btw,i think Stella Artois is the best beer on the world,such a quality
 !Closely in front of Pilsen Urquell(i remember when i was in Prague airport before flying to Belgrade,i had to wait 6 hours and i almost get drunk out there  ),Kronenbourg and Brahma(ideal for summer time) Well globaly,my opinion is that Dutch and Belgian beers are the best.Local beer just suck,luckily we have some good 47% eau-de-vie ------------- Ars longa , vita brevis |

At this moment I am enjoying a holiday on hot and sunny Aruba, Budweiser is very popular on this USA flooded island but I use as a kind of substition of water, it tastes very similar. My favorite on the list is the strong version of Guiness (not the draught cans |

Most of the beers listed would be called lagers in the UK. They're not real ale. What about Tennent's Super - for those with a refined taste?

| Yeah I was hesitant to buy it the first time because of the low alcohol content, but the 4.4% is quite deceptive. Several other beers in that list with higher alcohol percentages, like Tuborg and Stella Artois, are quite watery in comparison. |

I wouldn't touch any on that list except Pilzner Urquell. All the rest are foul fizzy tasteless big brewery lagers or stouts; Budweizer really is the pits - it is made with rice, for God's sake! A selection of the best (by no means exclusive): Orkney Dark Island (Scotland) Timothy Taylors Landlord (Yorkshire) Wychwood Hobgoblin (England) Roosters Yankee (Yorkshire) Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (USA) Hambleton Stallion (Yorkshire) Hopback Summer Lightning (England) Isle of Skye Black Cuillin (Scotland) Felinfoel Double Dragon (Wales) Leffe Brun (Belgium) Kwak (Belgium) In truth, there are very few beers brewed outside the UK and Belgium that are any good. A few US microbreweries cut the mustard as do a few Czech and South German breweries (Stopramen, Budweiser Budvar (don't confuse that with the appalling American imitation)). Next to prog, beer is my next passion! |

My favourite is Guinness. But, as far as I'm concerned (I may be wrong), Guinness is defined as a stout, which (alonside an ale) isn't consider a beer (or, at least, there's a difference between the regular beer, from one side, and ales and stouts, from the other).
Apart from Guinness, I like Plzenski Prazdroj (aka Pilsner Urquell) and Budvar. It seems that most people here don't like Budweiser, but, as Tony Fisher said, there's a difference between the American Budweiser and the Czech Budvar.
I liked ales, by the way (unfortunately, I haven't taste them too much -- seven days in England is too short to appreciate the ales fully).

Atkingani, when I was on Aruba last month, I was astonished how popular Polar beer (25cc can) is but I prefer Balashi, genuine Arubian beer that taste very fresh. especially whent it is hot and it is always hot so ..

Certainly the Venezolan POLAR, Erik... it's very popular in Northern Brazil too (I made a little research via Mr. Google
 ).The Brazilian POLAR (now owned by Inbev) is produced in Southern Brazil and it's rarely seen as north as São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
BTW, INBEV is a huge company merging Belgian INTERBREW and Brazilian AMBEV... these guys are purchasing everything they can. ------------- Guigo ~~~~~~ |

I know Atkingani, I am a member of the Dutch beer society PINT and every magazine features stories about INTERBREW, they try to destroy the smaller breweries with their puer capitalistic ideas, Marx was right
This evening I enjoyed a Kriek (cherry) beer with 'abbey cheese', a great combination

Out of these, enjoy a drop of Corona - with a slice of lime naturally!
As for lager in general, my favourite, is a Canadian brew called Sleemers. I know of just one bar in the UK that sells it, located in Soho (London)
I head for this place every time I'm in London, simply to have a couple of pints.
Anyone else heard of or tried this beautiful beer??

Actually I have been sampling a bunch of micro Breweries the last few years and here are some I really like:
And then this one:
 Main Street Maibock – This is one of our very best selling beers and not surprisingly it won the Best All Around Brew at the 1999 Spectrum of Beers in Irvine, California. This is a full flavored lager with big rich malt flavor and balanced with Perle hops. These lagers are traditionally brewed in the dead of winter and aged until May, hence the name. -------------  "What are you going to do when that damn thing rusts?" |

Right now I'm loving local (Pennsylvania, USA) breweries Victory and Troegs. Nice clean pale ales, preferably with Cascade hops, are my favorite. |

Can't vote for any of them - I have been known to drink the odd bottle of Budweiser Budvar (ie not the Bud on the list) when nothing else is available, but in general I do not like lagers or stouts (I have drunk Guiness on one occasion - but that was in Ireland and it was the only drink the pub sold).
Today I did have a pint of this, draught, not out of a bottle:
 very strange - a beer (or Ale if you insist on calling it such) brewed with added Stinging Nettles - it really does make your tongue tingle, but it is rather nice. ------------- What? |
