"Aria" (1972) and "Come un Vecchio Incensiere all'Alba di un Villaggio Deserto" are two important steps in the huge italian prog rock scene. "Aria", with the self titled long suite, is considered by many a real masterpiece even though is very difficult to listen to it.
Now the question is more direct from me to you all:
Does Alan Sorrenti deserve to be included here on PA?
My answer, you know, is YES! although he is not really my cup of tea!!

We should include only his first three releases.
With the fourth he started to do only disco music!! What a horrible surprise for all his fans it was!!

The main problem is: what subgenre of prog?
Rio/ Avant prog?
It seems to be a mix between folk prog and RIO...what do you think?
Maybe Hughues could help...

As I remember those two first albums, I could be in favour of the inclusion - but only those two (or three?), provided it is possible. The rest of Sorrenti's output is unspeakably awful and makes Phil Collins sound like "Close to the Edge".

BTW, I only own his first two albums but, according to the http://www.italianprog.it - www.italianprog.it auctoritas the best thing is include also the third album titled "Alan Sorrenti" (1974).
It shows the first tendencies of what would have happened later.
This is the cover...do is this still a progressive face??

I don't know about 'progressive faces'... I only remember how shocked I was when I first heard "Figli delle Stelle" and realised it was the same guy who'd done the beautiful "Aria" album. BTW, the above cover is not bad, but the other two are much better. The thing is, I've read around the forum that mailto:M@x - M@x only wants complete discographies, and this could be a serious problem in this case....

I think not, really, because there are lots of bands with only some albums included. An example? I Dik Dik.
I think we should include all the prog albums from any band or artist.
When, in particular, there were such an impressive cut between prog and pop material, asit happens with Sorrenti, we should only include the first side, as I said.
Let's hope formalistic reasons will not be a problem for Aria and co.

Juri Camisasca released one of the most peculiar albums of all Italian pop music's history in 1974: "La Finestra Dentro". The lyrics made an extremely strange impression: they are outside of any "common logic". Franco Battiato and Lino "Capra" Vaccina played on this LP.
