Well, he has some prog songs like Love Chronicles (16 min long!), nostradamus, year of the cat, etc...

Songs like "Nostrodamus" and "Roads to Moscow" Lent in a prog direction. I'd actually say "Bedsitter images" didn't, it was really just a long song.
A great artist whose "Year of the cat" album is one of my all time favourites.
Not a candidate for inclusion on this site though in my opinion.

I have heard people refer to Al Stewart as being 'prog lite', in the same canon as acts like Supertramp or Alan Parsons Project. I think he's done some progressive tracks over the years on his two best albums (imo) 'Past Present and Future' and 'Year Of The Cat', and songs like 'News From Spain'. 'Love Chronicles' is the 16 minute epic BTW Bob, not 'Bedsitter Images'. That's his debut that's somewhat smothered in strings, imo. For all this though, I don't really think he should be here- there are singer songwriters that are arguably more progressive than Al Stewart (John Martyn, Tim Buckley) yet they aren't here, so there's not much merit in his inclusion either.

I count myself as an Al Stewart fan. Past, present and Future, Year of the Cat and Modern Times have prog leanings and are his best work I feel, but I wouldn't class them as "prog". Roads to Moscow (from PP&F) is an amazing song  ...-------------

Which Denver album(s)? Surely nothing dealing with Colorado or the Rocky Mountains! There's actually a record called The Unplugged Collection...When was he ever plugged in? If we draw a dotted line, we could allow Cat Stevens & America in...
