I'm stealing this from another thread but I thought it would apply even better to progressive music!!  What are your guys three favorite songs that occur in consecutive order on the same album?

One of my favorite three in a row would be:

Pain of Salvation - One hour at the Concrete Lake

8. Black Hills
9. Pilgrim
10. Shore Serenity

or

Tool - Lateralus

9. Lateralus
10. Disposition
11. Reflection

What are your guys favorites?

Close to the Edge, And You and I, and Siberian Khatru are the obvious choices though I like Peaches en Regalia, Willie the Pimp and Son of Mr. Green Genes too.

Also Dog, Pigs and Sheep, Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage, and Eclipse, Speak to me/Breathe, On the Run and Time, The Great Gig in the Sky, Money, Us and Them. Did I just list DSotM in its entirity? Darn tootin I did.

There are so many actually. Just the Same, On Reflection, Free Hand... Dancing with the Moonlit Knight, I know what I like, and Firth of Fifth... just way too many to list...

Probably the middle three tracks on side two of SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES' "Kaleidoscope" (1980). First there's "Desert Kisses", an epic symphonic ballad with layers of string synthesiser, sitar and choral backing vocals, then "Red Light", a very innovative and eerie piece built around simple repeated synthesiser lines and primitive drum programming, and finally "Paradise Place", a heavy melodic guitar rocker with a mildly psychedelic atmosphere and an extended instrumental coda. As progressive pop LPs goes, this is one of the cleverest and most effective of the lot, with every track evoking a different atmosphere and heading in a different musical direction.

Good one; if only "Freeze" was stuck between "Earthshine" and "Nocturne" — then those would be the best 3-in-a-row on VT.

Rush has too many incidences of "best 3-in-a-row" on all their '80s albums save Hold Your Fire though...

There are so many "best three songs in a row" to choose from.

Here are some I came to think of (in no particular order):

Yes - Relayer (the whole album)
Yes - Close to the Edge (the whole album)
Rush - Lakeside Park, The Necromancer, The Fountain of Lamneth (from Caress of Steel)
Rush - Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ (from Moving Pictures)
Rush - Circumstances, The Trees, La Villa Strangiato (from Hemispheres)
King Crimson - Red, Fallen Angel, One More Red Nightmare (from Red)
Camel - Nimrodel, Earthrise, Lady Fantasy (from Mirage)

There are lots more, I could go on for ever...

Actually you could. The idea of the thread would be to pick 3 songs that went together beautifully in a row. When I listen to 10,000 Days I often find myself skipping Intension and going straight to Right In Two

Some of the best 3-in-a-row I can think of are:

Pink Floyd

DSOTM:
Us & Them
Any Colour You Like
Brain Damage

WYWH:
Welcome To The Machine
Have A Cigar
Wish You Were Here

Animals:
Dogs
Pigs
Sheep

Tool

Lateralus:
Schism
Parabol/Parabola
Ticks & Leeches

Salival:
Third Eye
Part Of Me
Push*t

Aenima:
Stinkfist
Eulogy
H.

Van Der Graaf Generator

H to He:
The Emperor In His War Room
Lost
Pioneers Over C.

I'm sure there are plenty more but these come to mind atm.

TO MICKEY:
To take you back to your post of 06/06/06 when you were no doubt feeling devilish, I continue to find that 'Working All Day' is one of my favourite GG songs and that is saying something. Love the sax led riff ,esp. the baritone and it has one of KMs best organ solos which builds beautifully imo. Catching out first time listeners used to be a laugh with that speed changing intro.
And to others I agree THE LAMB... should feature more on this thread. Therefore, what about,
9.COUNTING OUT TIME, 10.THE CARPET CRAWLERS, 11.THE CHAMBER OF THIRTY-TWO DOORS>
