Glad to see on another thread that my ranting about the mighty PRR has had some effect -
I hope that those of you who check them out are at least half as affected and delighted by them as I am. Evidently one mr Rick Wakeman is a big fan of theirs and offered to make a guest appearance on the album. Much as I respect Wakey for his accomplishments in the past and his sterling work as a session musician, I'm actually really, really glad that didn't happen, because I really don't think his playing style would be a good fit with their sound. 20 hours until I'm on the plane, 38 hours left to the gig... -------------

Don't have The Dark Third yet, but will eventually. Love the Caucionary

struck me as having genuine commercial potential made me really
hesitant at first, Prog Snob that I am. Then I moved to "It's really
not that good, but I do like to listen to it", and eventually capitulated completely. And the Cautionary Tales EP was good, but The Dark Third really goes one better, I think. The penultimate song on The Dark Third, The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows, gives me shivers every time. -------------

| Well I'll try your recommendation. I kinda know what you mean about being glad Wakey didn't appear on the album but in his hay day of course, he was a great session player, from Bowie's Space Odditty to Cat Stevens Morning Has Broken. |

I just ordered "The Dark Third" from Amazon. Very, very impressed by what I've heard so far (all tracks except 7, 8 & 9).

Got BOTH versions of The Dark Third, and it's been my fasvorite album of the year. Why the US version doesn't have The Exact Colour and Trembling Willows, I couldn't tell you. Twyncyn/Trembling is as close to a money shot as it gets |

That's a shame, I heard Trembling Willows on their Myspace and it sounded fantastic. I liked their other song too (The Exact Colour), but not as much. The Dark Third is still on my to buy list. -------------

And, yes, why Trembling Willows was left off TDT MKII is beyond me. I get the inclusion of Nimos and Tambos and The Intention Craft as they are both potential single material, but there are other tunes they could have dropped. -------------

Well worth the hunt indeed!!
 Looks like I will be purchasing the MKII version as well. Perhaps the versions on MKII are redone with Porcupine Tree's engineer Paul Northfield (I don't think he was involved at all on the EP "Cautionary Tales for the Brave" which I feel is lacking the overall sheen and quality of the "Dark Third" album).
To say I have high hopes for their second album is a bit of an understatement.
