Hey

I am new to this forum.
I just found it today
Been reading what you've been posting
It seems that prog isn't so gay after all . . .

yeah, what else would you call it if not progressive ?

I've been looking for a forum to join in discussions for a while but I wanna find the right place to waste my time. I've read about some things I'm into here already, Radiohead, Q and not U, Fugazi... amongst others have been mentioned.
I like quite a lot of that Post Hardcore stuff but I come from a metal background. I play in a post rock / punk band and have an electronic/guitars solo thing and have just joined a crust punk band.

So I'd like to know what you guys think about some of the bands I like that few people seem to know. I am wondering if they fit into this Prog thing (changing the perception of pr0g ?)

Firstly, I'm really into a lot of the tracks by Dismemberment Plan. Has anyone heard this? They've stopped now but there doesn't seem to be much else like it. I love the lyrics - depressing maybe but delivered in poppy style with upbeat drum breaks and err shimmering (?? hmm, take it back - cranky ?? well good anyway) guitars. I have Change and Emergency & I.

How about the Medications ? This is a Dischord band. I have the "your favourite people All in one place" album (full length). how heavy the sound is - even though there's so little overdrive on the guitars. amazing. soul-full music. haunting vocals.

I'll leave it at that for now . . .

Oh - did anyone go to Download 06 ?? Did you see Clutch ??

Cheers

Q and not U, Fugazi and others probably won't ever be considered 'prog', but they are good bands and I do enjoy them.

post-rock is wonderful and there is a small but growing section on it here at PA.

as for Dismemberment Plan, I am not familiar with them, but I have heard the name because my cousin was in a band in the DC area (where they come from) and did several shows with them in years past.
