Hello Everyone,
I just joined because I absolutely love this site! I have been lurking for about a month now and have found 3 new Prog bands that I love and have bought CD's of theirs already. They are: Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, and Riverside. I have not 'kept-up' with Prog music in general for 10 years now, well waht I mean is that I have only focused on the artists that I have loved for a long, long time - Rush, Yes, Kansas, Dream Theater - these are the only prog bands that have been included in my world. This is probably because I listen to alot of rock/folk/pop/college/acoustic/ artists like my favorite band Toad the Wet Sprocket, Gin Blossoms or Dan Fogelberg I also write and perform this type of music as well. I listen to alot of different music!
I did a search on the forum and did not find anyone really talking about Incubus. I will say that though I really like their albums, they have only had 'hints' of prog influence in their music, BUT that was untill the album 'A Crow Left of the Murder'. I do believe that this album has the right to be listed on this site. I hear heavy ammounts of Prog influence all over this album and many of the songs are long with great progressive musical compositions. Does anyone agree? If you have not heard the album, I would suggest at the very least purchasing a download of the album and giving it a chance.
I look forward to your input

I haven't heard a Crow Left of the Murder, but think I'll check it out.
Anyway, welcome to the site! Hope you enjoy your stay.

Yes, there are some prog elements in that album, but I don't think it's enough for their inclusion. Nio doubt, however, that they are capable of playing prog.

A Crow... is Incubus's proggiest release, and IMO their worst since Fungus.
A lot of the songs are modern rock IMO...not good. Other are just atonal jazzy nosense, IMO. But "Sick Sadd Little World" is as prog as anything The Mars Volta has done withing the timeframe.

Welcome!
I really dig Incubus, but I'll have to agree that "A Crow Left..." is
not their strongest release. I definitely see no reason for them not to
be listed under "Prog-Related", personally.

That's what I love about opinions...they can be so different! I feel almost lame saying that A Crow Left of the Murder is my favorite Incubus album because of the prog feel.
I am not a huge fan of the fast funk type style that they did in the early 90's, but watching them do it is damn impressive! I had a band that opened for them in 93 and we sat around and watched thier set with our jaws dropped Simple amazing...

More than sorta! I've seen them live twice now, and I maintain that
Brandon has one of the best voices in rock today. Mike's also a very
talented guitarist.
