OCTOBER EQUUS

Calling all RIO specialists in ProgArchives!!

I'd like to strongly suggest the addition of Spànish RIO band OCTOBER EQUUS. Their debut album is excellent, muscular, sophisticated - influenced by Present, King Crimson and Henry Cow's rockier side. It's already been highly praised in several prog -ezines around the globe.

If you will, I can write a review and more data about the band once this band gets the approval it certainly deserves.

    Kind regards!!

I will look for samples of them, but from a first glance at various sites on them I can see that you are probably right.

Joren, can you add this to our list?

Yeah, this is a paradox. I'm kind of an expert on this particular band, but since I'm not officially a RIO/7Avant Prog specialist, I'm not allowed to go any further than saying "hey, there's this new band I've just listened to..."

In a friendly tone -- Please, hurry, there are other sites that are getting faster at updating reviews of the latets prog releases.

   Kind regards.

Officially (or in an ideal case), we need/want to hear some samples before we (can) vote for their inclusion. But if you have some info about them which proves they are RIO, that might suffice too.

Well, they are on our chart now, but I'm not so sure about them, so I won't vote before I've heard some samples.

No news yet regarding this excellent proposed Prog Archives entry?

There are no samples available because they're just starting a new version of their original and now defunct website. That one had some good samples. Muse are better known and have lots of samples everywhere, so I guess that it was really easy to incerpt them here as Prog-related or whatever. Yet, when it comes to an authentic prog band, we ProgArchivists become demanding and unforgiving... or so it seems...

   Kind regards.

Cruzial was a colelctive association of various Spanish bands, October Equus being one of them; since the collective doesn't exist anymore, neither does its Internet server... That link is outdated, but at the time, it had 3 o 4 good audio samples from the band's material.  Thank you, Sean, for the effort.

I voted yes on their inclusion.
We need to wait the other team members to vote as well.

Audio samples of October Equus!!

Here at http://www.myspace.com/equusoctober - http://www.myspace.com/equusoctober  - three tracks from their debut album. Don't mind the Reggaeton / Hawaiian label. Guitarist Ángel Ontalva made that Myspace blog in a hurry: I suggested he published some OE music in the Internet, and this is something he has effectively done to help us understand the value of October Equus as a ProgArchives item.

I hope the specialists find the material interesting: I think it's great, since October Equus sounds like a band that intends to provide serious freshness to the RIO trend of prog.

   Kind regards.

Hi Cesar,
If it were up to me, they would have already been added. From all the samples I heard so far (in myspace and in "other" places) I find them to be fitting the RIo genre very mucha nd also a great band.

Hi Cesar,

Now that this band has been approved, I want to add them asap.
So if you can provide me with either sources of information on them (websites etc), or you have written a bio yourself this could speed up things.

PM me all that you have and I will get this done.

Best regards

Assaf
