Ok, finally got to see this last night. While it isn't ELP it is pretty good. Also this is not for the feint of heart. They chose some of the most difficult music ELP played ever. Don't expect Lucky Man in other words.
I loved the guitar player and the bass player Shaun Baxter and Dave Marks respectivally. I asked them if they had ever used Chapman Sticks and they said no. So I don't know how they learned the tapping technique they used to great effectiveness to capture Emerson's Upper and lower range as well as Lake's bass parts. They were amazing. I am listening to one of the two live cd's they put out and I have never heard Peter Gunn's theme played so well even from ELP.
I loved Carl's candor when he would talk to the audience and mentioned both Love Beach and The Works 2 albums stating quite clearly there will be no refunds for those.  As for his drumming I think this is the smallest kit I have ever seen him play live and it was just solid. (Makes me wish PE would get a lower kit so you can see him better.) He is amazing. Last night I don't think I saw him miss a shot. Anyway he was gracious if a bit rushed after the show. He signed a two things for me and I told him I hope to see them next year and he said "definitely" so I guess the tour went well. Then I said oh yeah I might see you with Asia and he said "that too". Great experience I am guessing we had 400 there. Not bad because he had played the night before in LA (about 50 miles) and did as well. -------------  "What are you going to do when that damn thing rusts?" |

The bassist was actually Stuart Clayton. Dave Marks left the band a little over a year ago.
The show is great tho.. saw it twice in this area - Philly and NYC. ------------- THIS IS ELP

Yeah thanks Linda and the Guitarist is Paul Bielatowicz. I assumed the names on the last CD were right. How are you doing btw long time no see or read?
 I could only see them once because I wanted to see the Zappa plays Zappa thing too which was fantastic. The problem was there were two shows for each band on the same nights.  ------------- "What are you going to do when that damn thing rusts?" |
