can someone explain the title, i really havent heard pt 1 too much but
i have the album pt 2, but i dont see what it has to do with
metropolis, metropolis being a large city, while the album is more
based around some kinda weird murder love phyciatric deal. My
curiousity about the title came after I did some reading about that
classic sci-fi film Metropolis. so please, someone share

This would probably be a good question for http://www.dtfaq.com - www.dtfaq.com however, I think the site was suspended for some reason.
As you probably know, Metropolis pt.1 wasn't meant to have a sequel, maybe the band just decided on some name for the I&W track and later on, when they were convinced to make a pt.2, they just kept the name.
If you haven't read the review, I have it saved and can post it here if you'd like... as for the real reason behind the name, I only have an idea.

Well the song's concept was originally going to be about the two brothers Romulus and Remus who fought to the death with Romulus emerging to form the city Rome.
Then after that concept was dropped I guess they liked the name and kept it, eventually becoming a character in the later album.

yeah, http://www.dtfaq.com - www.dtfaq.com will be good, also try on http://www.mikeportnoy.com - www.mikeportnoy.com and choose the FAQ section...
I agree about the name "Metrpolis", i reckon its just an idea.. Metropolis Pt.1 (I mean the Pt.1 thing) was originally just for a joke, what i mean is, nothing serious or there was no plan to make the second part or even the third part. But then fans asked for the second part and there it is, one of the best prog metal album..
And maybe uve known this, the album was recorded without a rehearsal session, they just recordid straight away... A masterpiece, IMO

Here's the theory I know of Metropolis.
The two main characters are the brothers Julian (The Sleeper), a lazy guy in New York City surrounding his life with crime never being the man he was meant to be, and Edward (The Miracle), a hard worker who became a senator from New York. Both of these twins shared the same mind.
There is also another character Victoria who was in love with both twins at one time. The song "Home" is the most conclusive evidence of what both brothers thought of this.
Now, you'll notice that in Metropolis Part II, there is both past and present time. The two characters Nicholas and the hypnotherapist are reincarnations of Victoria (Nicholas) and Edward the miracle (the hypnotherapist). When Edward kills Victoria in "Finally Free" you'll hear "open your eyes Victoria". When the hypnotherapist kills Nicholas you'll hear "open your eyes Nicholas". This is what leads many to believe who those two are reincarnated into.
Another thing to in mind is the phase "Love is the Dance of Eternity". The whole things is kind of like a waltz. This is strictly for Metropolis Part I. Edward the miracle is the first, Julian the sleeper is the second, and Victoria is the third, the dance of eternity.

I don't know what you are trying to insinuate. I said that was the original concept of the song which was dropped for what AtLossForWords so thoroughly explained. If you would come out and say what you mean it would be helpful.
