I have read that this has already been released in Japan (about 3 months ago)
The image is supposed to be very clear (well for a ī77 concert) and the sound has been remastered.
I canīt wait to get this! In fact my life has been leading up to this!

One gripe I have about this DVD is that it has David Stone on keyboards instead of Tony Carey, also there is no "Stargazer" which would be great to see.
(I suppose you canīt have your cake and eat it)

Yes... No "Stargazer"....  that would've been the icing on the aforementioned cake! But this isn't a perfect world, and we must live with what we have!BTW, I had a look at that site and found that Glenn Hughes quote about Ritchie almost hitting him with a guitar... Gosh, that man really is wild...  |

Blackmore always likes his space on the left of the stage. Itīs great to listen to "On Stage" on headphones because you know the guitar comes out of the left speaker.
After six minutes into "Catch The Rainbow" is his greatest solo ever!

I'm similar to others here as for me, the only gripe is that 'Stargazer' isn't there- the finest Rainbow song of them all. It's still probably the must have music DVD of the year for me however... |

The concert was recorded October 1977 in the Olympia Halle in Munich, Germany and broadcasted on the German tv. I own a bootleg video from that concert and just watching it, great: a powerful and energetic band featuring Ronnie James Dio on vocals, a black dressed and very inspired Ritchie Blackmore (delivering lots of blistering soli) on his Fender Stratocaster and Steve Stone on keyboards with a spectacular long solo (Minimoogs, Hammond, choir-Mellotron!). The lightshow is sensational with a huge rainbow as the focus  !

And let's not forget the late, great Cozy Powell on drums.... (Erik, what about our plan to get him in PA?) Gosh, I can hardly wait... blistering solos by the Man in Black dressed in black... and Ronnie's powerhouse of a voice.... Pure heaven! |

This one was out today and I picked it up. Alongside Pulse, this was my must have DVD of the year and from the first hour I had a look at it looks like Rainbow are on great form. Dio's superb as ever vocally, Blackmore tears up on guitar and Cozy Powell is as reliably barnstorming on drums. The keyboards are a bit out of the mix at times, but perhaps the DTS and 5.1 mixes are an improvement sonically. Definitely worth the wait- also there's a lovely reproduction of an original tour programme as a DVD booklet and another booklet with biographical details. Well worth the 11.99 I paid!! |

| I have the gig on video, from when it was shown on TV. I think it was a Rockpalast gig. Quility wise it's fine, as it was a TV company which recorded it. From the track listing quoted, it looks like there's quite a bit missing though. |

Watched the rest of this just now. Great keyboard solos and a wonderful piece with Cozy Powell doing his celebrated '1812 overture' bit, and the usual climactic antics from Ritchie Blackmore!!

Sounds amazing, I think I might actually buy it(!). I have been listening to Rainbow since I was kid.
The last two epics from Rising are missing, which accidentally are my favourite songs of theirs, but the fact that Rainbow is such a great band, that the setlist kicks ass nevertheless, and that it was shot before Dio's departure... That makes me want to get it.
Is Mistreated the same version that was on On Stage, with the extended jam solo? That thing was majestic.

They are releasing quite a bit of old Rainbow stuff recently,
An unauthorized biography "Black Knight" by Jerry Bloom (publisher and editor of the magazine "More Black than Purple") will soon be out. It will be a 400 page book on Ritchie Blackmore. Sounds Good.

This record has been released some years ago on VHS in Germany.
It's a great concert, but don't expect crystal clear picture and sound. I can't say the publishers made their best on this DVD release.
Anyway a must have, but for reasonable price. ------------- Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour) |
