First a thanx to Joren, who made me discover the band. 'Massacre' is an allstar trio of Fred Frith (guitar), Bill Laswell (bass) and Charles Hayward (drums and ocasional vocals and melodica) and  'Meltdown'  (2001) their second record was recorded live during 'Robert Wyatt's Meltdon Festival in june 2001. The music is not easy to describe, it's Rock (soundwise) it's Prog (improvisationswise), but it is in the first place 3 excellent musicians improvising over binary rhythms.(+ a Charlie Haden comosition 'Song For Che') The main dish are two long improvisations where the band  establishes  slow repetitive rhythms, which serve as a base for soloing (BTW often as Zappa  did over a slow Reggae). Frith plays in and out, but always  interesting. I like especially the passages where he plays with a medium echo and the interplay with Laswells fat and funky bass and Haywards drumming is brillant. A highly recommended record and another band that deserves getting added.

I too discovered them through Joren. I was pleasantly surprised cause I was expecting another thing altogether due to their name.

They are on the RIO Team's list and they are approved for addition to PA.
Do you want to add him, Martin? If you want to, I can assist you.

OK, I'll add them. It'll wait one week more, though.

I know Massacre from their earlier incarnation (1981 - 2) with Fred Maher on drums instead of Charles Hayward. Their one and only album, Killing Time, was reissued/remastered with extra tracks and it's a blistering example of a RIO power trio firing on all cylinders. I must get round to picking up the other 2 albums soon.

Massacre have a relation to Material too, a (alightly) Gong-related band; Material accompanied Daevid Allen on the album "About Time"; the result of Allen + Material was called New York Gong. Material also published albums under their own name
