I have some Peccatum material and just recently bought "The Moribund People". I am not sure if you'd call them "prog"-although I think they fit the bill myself, but I have taken to them with just Ihsahn and Ihriel. I thought with Lord PZ, the whole thing was just too bizarre for words, plus it sounded horrible IMO. I think it worked as a duo-husband and wife.

None of their albums are amongst my favourites, but I am not really horrified with any of their more avant-garde stuff. Still prefer Emperor's work greatly though.

There's no basis for comparing them to Emperor... just because of Ihsahn's mutual membership doesn't mean they have anything in common musically.

The post-Pz albums (Lost in Reverie and The Moribund People) are easily their best work, the former actually being among my favorite albums. The first three are simply too uncofused and flawed to be really enjoyable. They were capable of great things, it's a shame the project has now disbanded.

You can always compare two things on the basis on how much you enjoy them, regardless if there are no similarities that can be compared.

it goes without saying that Ihsahn's best work was with Emperor. i like his solo album as well, but it lacks something without the other two, especially Samoth. Samoth, on the other hand, adapts to whoever he plays with.
