Mr. Bungle is on here, at the very least they should be added because they're another Mike Patton project.

But Tomahawk are pretty much straight up rock, while quirky, Kaada/Patton is electronica (again, quirky, but not prog). Maldoror is experimental/noise. Fantomas and Bungle are his only two I can think of at the minute that I would call prog.

John Zorn, anyone?

I'd like to see Zorn on here.  Fantomas and Mr. Bungle are the only Patton projects that I would say could go on this site though.

If John Zorn is prog, we might as well go ahed and add Peter Brotzmann, Ornette Coleman, Derek Bailey, and all the other free jazz artists.

John Zorn has a rock element too though. At least sometimes.

Why arent Status Quo in the archives?

They play guitars and have used a keyboard occasionally.Confused

And what about Ted Nugent. He has got progressively worse over the years!LOL

His brother Jim played quarterback for the Seahawks in the late 70's early 80's..

So true...

I noticed Three isn't listed on here either... It was progressively worse also... and it had the greatest prog keyboardist & drummer alive....

I don't think John Zorn should be added, I don't know all his music, but from what I've heard, most was art music or jazz, progressive, but not rock.

Still great music though!

(For those of you who don't know)  Fantomas is a metal (metal in a very progressive sense) band that is led by Mike Patton (Of Mr. Bungle, Faith No More fame) Fantomas' latest release is Delirium Corda, an album consisting of one 75 minute song.  There album, Director's Cut, is a reworking of movie theme songs such as Rosemary's Baby, The Godfather, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, and others

Plus, the name is a reference to a disturbingly fun piece of classic but relatively obscure pop-culture.

i heard the LP delirium cordia is it? it was reallly frustrating - they had some amazing ideas both musically, texturally, melodically any other 'ally' yer can think of - but they never develop them - that LP could have been somethin REALLY special - but to me it was 75 minutes of 3 minute sections that just when they were building into something good - they changed, Way too framentary for my liking. However - to be making music that experiemental in this AOR saturated age - is commendable in the extreme - there defo not symphonic rock but equally I think they siyt along side FAUST (esp. the recent Nosferatu soudtrack) and Shub-Niggurath etc.. so i voted YES

Hey I must say that LP of the movie soundtracks sound interesting! Is that available yet???

Blast and damm it, another new band. Why couldn't music just stop at 1975 and leave it at that??

Well, which is a good 1st album?  I've never heard of them.

The one I started with is Director's Cut, which is a collection of movie themes covered by Fantomas in such a way that they make it their own song. I think it is their best album.  Delirium Corda is awesom except for the last 20 minutes, which is just record skipping noise. The album is a musical interpretation of surgery and is one 75min song and it is pretty creepy

Aqualung...

Your constant spamming is getting irritating, and I'm pretty sure it's gotten to the point where you're only hurting their chances more than anything else.

To the person who asked where to start with them, The Director's Cut is their only album with any kind of instant accessibility at all, so go for that.  The self-titled debut is a bunch of crazy, fragmented bits of experimental metal, Delirium Cordia is an epic, frightening 75 minute piece.  My intro was the self-titled, and after a few listens I fell in love with it, but it's pretty challenging.

Well, I remember a few months back he said Voivod was going to be added later and they just got added the other day (admittedly, I spent awhile wondering if it was actually going to happen).  But what's important is that it did, so just hold yer horses

I'm very glad to hear that they'll be added.  Max, do you still have that bio for them I submitted to you way back when that I said you could use if you decided to add them?  Cause I'd hate to see it go to waste

I recommend Director's Cut, as it is the most accessable, from there I did Delirium Corda which is an amazing 74 min piece (Except for the last 20 min. See my review for detail)  but I guess after DC anything by them is fair game

This sounds like a band that would be right up my alley. I shall investigate.

I think the term prog is too readily attached to too many bands. My daughter is currently into this band stemming from her Faith no More cds. What I have heard, albeit ,doesn't sound remotely like anything prog, but I'll continue to give it a try, perhaps, I'll have a change of heart.

Heh, you'd think so but I know and love Mr Bungle. I will be investigating Fantomas V soon.

Not to be confused with Bungle from the UK TV Kids programe Rainbow!
