i would do this myself but im too lazy and not good with computers

okey.

-the fall of troy; prog metal. easily. give em a listen. (i mean come on! dillinger escape plan?! this is way better)

-horse the band; art rock/prog metal/prog electonic. i cant put an exact label on them. its definately good nitendo/math rock spliced with metal. everyone should give this band a listen.

-crime in choir; art rock/RIO i guess? started by a founding atdi member and zach hill of hella. grew into a large band with heavy keys. great stuff. sounds like a version of loud can and gentle of hella.
later joined by another fellow founding atdi member..hmm..which leads too..

-at the drive-in; experimenta/post rock. this is a major yes to that. just listen to them. theyre different. not hugely prog different. not saturated with keys, BUT does have them, cedrics lyrics add to the prog-ness, omars guitar does, and the many many many guitar/bass/vocal/drum! effects that are used. they ARE experimental with hints of prog. i mean 4 members go off to found and join 2 great prog bands. i think atdi's last album and tmv's first ep sound very very similar. its scary.

so ill gladly write all the info up for the artist thing or whatever. but ill need some help on some mp3s.

anyone support? at least those bands to be added?

I've never heard of any of them, but how could anything called "Horse the Band" possibly be bad?

haha. i know.

theyre amazing. seriously.

the lyrics are amazingly deep nitendo metaphors and the vocals are the metal loud some screamo parts they are these days. the guitar is fuzz laiden and metally crunched. the bass is skilled. the keys are this awesome ungodly amount of synth and classic nitendo sounds. actually the keys fit extremely nicely into them.

the best one there is atdi. by far. cedric and omar rule.

At the Drive-In are awesome, but the only thing they have to do with prog is Cedric and Omar's later involvement in The Mars Volta.

Horse the Band are a fun band with an interesting concept, but not really "prog" as such.  I guess the prog-metal team could vote on them, but I don't see them being included.

The Fall of Troy could MAYBE be included (though if Coheed and Cambria aren't here yet I don't like their chances), definitely not under prog-metal though.

ahhh...well atdi's sound is just very unique and different i could only see it be categorized by experimental.

horse does have some serious-ness to them. birdo is amazing. beats dream theater in my book anyday. dosent help that i dont like most prog metal. no offense

coheed? wha? theyre rush/zep wanna beens. fot is definately out there tho. you gota give me that. im not that familiar with prog metal tho so. but ive heard people make comparisons with them and dream theater.

well what about crime in choir tho? you must give them a listen. dual keyboards just about defines prog for me. symphonic maybe?

Don't get me wrong, I adore ATDI.  Relationship of Command is one of my all time favorite albums... they're just not suitable for inclusion on this site.

I don't like Dream Theater either, none taken. Smile

I would pretty much put FOT under the same sort of ambitious post-hardcore umbrella as Coheed... I would need to hear more of their stuff to really make a judgement on their progginess, but they sounded pretty borderline based on my experiences.

I'm interested to hear Crime in Choir, their material seems pretty elusive though.

haha. yea i know myspace. just click a song. hot slants pretty sweet.

my guitarist can be seen as the latest comment. haha. idiot.

ill put up some mp3s soon of fot. alot it hardcore but the amount of screaming is enough for metal but there is an element of hardcore too. the guitarists ability to go from chord to riff and back is mind blowing(...while singing!); giving them this heavy full sound to almost one of a violin in a split second. its amazing.
