I just bought Scheherazade and Other Stories, and I'm listening to it now. I think It's great so far. Any thoughts?

ahhhh... .I think you're right for one
When I got into Renaissance I lived on a steady diet of Ashes are
Burning... first the album cut then the magnificient live
version... over time though.. Trip to the Fair has become my
signature Renaissance track and the title suite stacks up against
any similar piece of prog out there (well short of Zarathustra which
stand head and shoulders above all epic side longs hahahah)
Never thought too much of The Vultures Fly High... but Ocean Gypsy is
pure bliss and a great song. Wonderful album.

I always found that they were so progressive that they didn't rock. Thus, they bore me to tears.

"Song of Sheherazade" itself is my favourite. Stunning. At about the 22 minute mark is one of my favourite transitions of all... "Sheherazade, Sheher...a...zade" Bam!
Due to a certain bombacity, the piano, and borrowing from classic pieces, I love to alternate between ELP and Renaissance. The Endless Enigma and Song of Sheherazade, for instance, sound great one after the other. I often play ELP's Trilogy followed by Songs of Sheherazade.

One of only a few sympho bands I really like. Something about their atmosphere is really moving. I only have the live version of Sheherezade, but it's pretty fab IMO.

"Ocean Gypsy" and "Vultures" are quite good, + the title epic too. A good purchase! Get their 2CD live from the same days if you like this one, I think it's their best record!

Wow! I really like Scheherazade. I also bought Turn of the Cards and it's great too. I will check into that live album, definitely.
