Republicans! I vote Democrat, but only because no socialist or green party member is ever on the ballot.

Agreed.

You do realize that this thread can cause absolutely nothing good?  It is said that there are two things you should never talk with friends about: religion and politics.  Especially since you didn't say something like "Do you vote Rebuplican or Democrat?," which would have at least been generally unoffensive, but rather asked which was worse.  If this thread isn't closed, I predict there will be some serious fighting, unless people just choose not to respond.

Same with me here in Maryland,Zac.I don't just get it in the mail either, they call you on the phone too...incessantly.

The race for govenor here has gotten pretty nasty, there is a lot of mud-slinging going on.

The Republican party here made an ad saying that Harold Ford (D) accepted money from Playmates or something ridiculous, it was on CNN and other news stations nationwide. It's such a shame that politics have to come to this, it makes me sick.

The Republican candidate, Bob Corker, was our old mayor....there is a reason he was not reelected! I could never vote for him, although most of my family supports him (I don't know why).

Personally, I do not care for either candidate.

Politicians. Though specifically, definitley Republicans.

Though....the ads are always disgusting. Especially in New Jersey. When Jon Corzine was running for Govenor there were attacks against his family, and his ex wife even was in an ad that said "Jon Corzine let my family down, and he'll let New Jersey down too".

I am living in PA right now and the Ed Rendell/Lynn Swan, Rick Santorum/Bob Casey ads are not much better....
Apparently it's like this across the country.

I think Swan's been in it for a while. I absolutely hate politics and it makes religion look like a quiet evening at home...but I thoroughly dislike Republicans; a disgraceful party. But these results are no surprise since we are all 'progressives'.

I live in PA.  Yes, it is Lynn Swann the old Steelers WR.  This is his first foray into politics - a bad choice, attempting to unseat a very popular governor, in a state where - and this was a surprising fact to me - no incumbent governor has ever lost an election.

Is the Ehrlich race close Jody?  I also heard Michael Steele is running for Senate but they don't predict he will win.

To address the thread topic, I would pick "politicians", as neither the Democrat nor Republican party really represents my interests.  I suppose Libertarian is the best label you could slap on me, however I don't follow that ideology down to the letter either.

I think Ehrlich will win because everyone I know despises Martin O'Malley.I am a lifelong Baltimore resident and that man did a terrible job as the mayor of Baltimore. He was young and promised all kinds of things and didn't deliver on any of them. Our city police force is extremely corrupt(we had 8 different commissioners in 8 years, almost all had to be removed for corruption)and our schools have absolutely no money and are in a state of decay(he authorized almost 200 million dollars of city funds to build the Ravens football stadium, while Camden Yards was built with state lottery money).

And I don't think Steele will win the Senate race.

Yeah, I'm technically still a PA resident voting by absentee ballott.  I just dislike politicians in general.  Casey's ads are ridiculous, and Santorum is just a ridiculous person in general. I read something he said at a speech a few weeks ago where he compared the war in Iraq to the struggle against Sauron in Lord of the Rings.  Apparently the war in Iraq is what's keeping Sauron's Eye away from the US so Frodo and Sam can ascend Mt. Doom.... whatever that means.

Swan doesn't have a chance against Rendell, though.

politics is by far the most disgusting, immoral, superficial and deceitful part of public american society. you can't even vote on issues because whatever you try to vote on is just a mask that gets taken off as soon as the election is over. im convinced that most voters pick the party that gives them personally the least amount of taxes.

unqualified as i am to comment on American politics, some things are clear - all politicians the world over wear "the mask" when campaigning, i don't know if they mean to be deliberately misleading to catch votes or just hopelessly optimistic about their abilities when in power, but i appreciate having someone to vote for, and the opportunity to vote at all!!! Wink

I'm not old enough to vote, but can't stand the mudslinging that goes on in politics (which it ALWAYS does) so when I'm old enough to vote, I'm going to purposely throw my vote away to the most useless specific party that'll never win, like the Save the Whales party or the Pro-Marijuana party....ahehehehee..

Power corrupts... all politicians, if they've been at it long enough, can't be trusted. Is any party worse than the other? Nah, just begging for nickles with a different organ grinder.

Sleaze ads. Both major parties suck equally, and often each other, but politicians - there are some politicians out there to change the world, otherwise there wouldn't be any third parties. Politicians aren't inherently evil; just, evil people tend to be attracted to politics.

Sleaze ads, however, are misleading, mean-spirited, and generally the worst part of the political system.

Republicans and Democrats both bite. The government's too big. It's trying to regulate people's moral and economic behavior. I want the country ran the way it should be- by the Constitution.

But that's not to say it's a state of tyranny. Many other places have it a lot worse. Cry

Hmm, I meant it more as a joke than a flamewar. So guys, play nice, and don't make me look bad.

The correct answer is politicians. You've got the democrats, who have the right ideas but are incompetent, and the republicans, who have the wrong ideas and are good at getting there way, you have all the crooks in both parties, you have ralph nader, who's obsessed with himself, and you have the sleaze ads they all throw at each other. And it all falls under "Politicians."

I hope I didn't just start the flamewar right there...

Yeah, I've heard that, but I've discovered that never turning the television on under any circumstances can fix 99% of the atrocity that is an election year. I do remember the commercial about Ford Jr. accepting money from playmates, though. (I was home for the weekend, and my parents pretty much do nothing but watch TV) As I recall, my jaw about hit the floor as I wondered how that couldn't backfire.

I watched the gubenitorial debates for Georgia last weekend. It was atrocious (but funny in a WWF sort of way). The whole time, the Democrat candidate tried to defame the incumbant Republican candidate by taking cheap shots at monitary gains he had while in office. The Republican came back with cheap shots about a car accident that the democrat had in which he had been drinking and his son died. I didn't learn anything about issues. I just know now that when I go to vote, I can feel sick as I try to choose between shady land deals and drunken car accidents.
