Okay, fans, connoisseurs and entitled to an opinion people, next week comes Magyar Posse's turn to be experienced (part of my Experimental expansive journey, if the idea wasn't remembered or told before), so please put some ideas upon what I should expect, upon what I will discover and so on...(in a more consistent or even personal way that the bio on them says Wink)

and something besides "music". Wink

---

off-topic, I'll try to write some words over the impression I got from listening to 65daysofstatic, tommorow, on its recommendation topic.

Hmm, just read the reviews I wrote last year, I really ought to re-write them... Terrible reviews. Embarrassed

I would work chronologically with Magyar Posse, "Kings of Time" is their best so far, but all their studio albums are definitely worth your time.

If you like Neu!, Ennio Morricone, GY!BE and Circle, add some floating, wordless female vocals to that (on some of the tracks), then you should definitely like this band.

Neu! = don't know
Ennio Morricone = ouch! LOL
GY!BE = Thumbs Up
Circle = don't know

I read something from your reviews, Jimbo.

Don't get too excited about the GY!BE tag though, the influence is only evident in "Kings of Time" ... They're a fairly unique band in that regard. Come to think of it, all their albums are quite dramatically different to each other.

I love the soudn of Magyar Posse, and with this band I have a strange thing (which also happens with Explosions in the Sky) that I seem to be much more attached and to like much more their debut album than the following releases. For some reason I find it to be more fresh sounding, more experimental, and more looking about what the band wants to say before it finds and forms its musical structure that fits it and before forming their final sound. We Will Carry You Over The Mountains  has an irresistible appeal to me, even though I know it is of lesser quality then Kings Of Time, more simple than it and I should probably like that one more, but I don't.
For me it has a spelling effect, a sound that captures me and throws me into a weird land filled with positivity and quirkiness.

So the bands Toni mentioned above suit this description and I agree with him mentioning them.

I only have Kings of time and I haven't heard it alot to make a clear suggestion, but is a nice album. From what I remember, the album sounds like long creccendo. Very soft and atmospheric until it blows up on track 6 or 7 and I like it.Smile

Bump

Made a trip back to Magyar Posse this week, going through their 3 albums again. What bliss!
I like the movie/western/oldies style they have on the first two and then the change in their third album. Great band.
