I was just clicking onto the board when, for some reason, my attention was caught by a word in the streaming audio on the front page. It was crack the sky. I'm not sure why this happened, but it did.
So I clicked on the song and really liked what I heard. I checked to see if they had more streaming audio, but they don't.
Does anyone know any thing of this band? any recomandations? ------------- I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t. -Stone Beard |

| That song is from their album Safety In Numbers. I think it's their best. The opening song is Nuclear Apathy and it's full of great changes. It's a very good album, I highly recommend it. Try checking their website for other samples. |

| I bought an album of theirs in the 80's called "From the Greenhouse". I haven't listened to it in years, but I remember the title track being quite good. It actually received a couple of spins on Buffalo, NY radio when it was released. |

I have liked Crack The Sky since aquiring their albums in the late 70's.
Stick to their first three studio albums and their first live album.
Their best listening IMO is side two from the 1978 live album;

I grew up in Baltimore(CtS's unofficial homebase),and know the band and saw them countless times growing up.They are legendary around here. I agree with Firepuck,their first 3 albums and the 1978 live album are great,but I also recommend their fourth album White Music.This album contains some poppier songs then the previous albums,but also has some great tracks(Skin Deep,Hot Razors in My Heart). If you liked the streaming audio track be aware that that song is from Saftey in Numbers.Most of the vocals are sung by Gary Lee Chappel,who joined the band after John Palumbo temporarily quit.While Saftey in Numberss is a great CtS album you should try to listen to some stuff with Palumbo on it,he was the creative force in the band. -------------  |

I just signed up for e-Music, which is an iTunes type subscription service for legal downloads. I clicked on the Progressive Rock tab (BTW, they have a decent selection), and who was on the main page but Crack the Sky with their "Raw" album. Small world. |
