A Blessing in Disguise is my favorite - but I haven't heard Acoustic Verses yet. If you like the epic structure of LODDOD you might also want to check out the previous album - it's their most experimental release. The newer ones have more "normal" song structures (starting with A Blessing In Disguise).

GC are a difficult band to pin down... intentionally, I think!

I agree with Mike's summation, although I like both Blessing and The Quiet Offspring equally... 3.5/5 each IMHO...

^ I found The Quiet Offspring a bit underwhelming compared to Blessing - the melodies are much less inspired IMO.

My resumee:

- Journey: 3 stars (experimentation/orchestral)
- LODDOD: 4 stars (orchestral/epic/concept)
- Blessing: 4.5 stars (emotions/melodies)
- Offspring: 3.5 stars (emotions/melodies)
- Verses: ?Wink

Did you like LODDOD? Cause, although I must say I like it...its not what I thought it would be, which mostly is good, but here I had high expectations, I mean, an hour lond song?!?! That must be the best thing ever...but no, not even close. And whats even worst, is that when Im listening to it there are parts which I feel could have been done so much better, there could have been more strings, more vocals, more everything, and maybe less guitar, cause after a while it seems like he is always playing the same riff...and whats worst, are the lyrics. I think Tchort tried to talk about everything and instead he ends up talking about absolutly nothing, what a pitty, such a piece of music demands good lyrics...
So I would say it´s maybe a 3 stars effort...but such a piece of music should, at least in my eyes, be at least a 4 star song...but its clearly not...for me, after all this is only a point of view

I enjoy In the Woods... much more than Green Carnation - they shared a bunch of members and can be considered to be the same band. I'd recommend starting with Omnio and Strange in Stereo.

LODDOD is nice but definetly no the best IMO.Not kind of music that can be listen over and over again frequently

I'd agree with the Offspring rating Mike, but personally I think your Blessing rating is a little generous.. I can't help feeling that it sags a bit in the middle, and not just in tempo... Two Seconds In Life and Myron & Cole don't add much to the album for me...

^ I love those two songs ... I really like the melancholy, great melodies. But of course that's entirely subjective.Smile

Acoustic Verses is easily their second best.
