I was looking around on the Cuneiform Records website and ended up listening to Far Corner. I got a sneak peak at "Creature Council" for their latest ENDANGERED. Now what an interesting sound that is. I came back to the PA site to learn more. It really is an uplifting experience. I higly recommend their s/t album. A fine mix between the more experimental avantgardish side to the more melodic (slightly "symph-prog" side). Endangered is more experimental in its approach and you can see that by reading the liner notes in the booklet. If you wish I can post some of it later here. But anyway, suffice it to say it has some very interesting compositional ideas and execution, but so far I like thr first one more. Their first album is absolutely great - one of the best releases of 2004 IMO and for me it's love at first listen.
Have yet to get their second album.

As promised, here is a part of the liner notes which describe the recording of the track Endangered: " The Title track is an experimental track in the manner in which it was created. In a goal to give more creative input to each player in something other than an improvised work, Endangered provided the opportunity for each member to compose their own part. First, Dan went into the studio and recorded some keyboards and trumpet parts. Once this was done, a CD was made for Craig. THe percussionist then had a few weeks to listen and come up with his own drum parts to go along with what had already been recorded. Inspired by what Craig had recorded, Dan then added a few extra percussion parts. Next it was William's turn, who used three different basses and a spring drum to add his own voice to the composition. Finally, Angie entered the studio with her cello, violin and bamboo flute, putting the finishing touches on the work. The first Far Corner album is one of my Cuneiform favs, so I'm looking forward to hearing the new one.
