Tough. I just "got" the concept of TC&TC yesterday, and it's so obvious. I suck. Cry

Best concept: The Sentinal by Pallas

Best overall album (from the list): Misplaced Childhood, though I'm not quite sure what the specific concept is.

Conceptually, it's essentially a story about Fish's childhood and memories with brief interludes in the present (Misplaced Rendezvous is one of those interlude sections, as is the opening part of Bitter Suite).

Out of those I've heard, my favorite is Misplaced Childhood...

...but I haven't heard half of those so I won't vote.

Misplaced Childhood by a mile. Brave has the better concept, but MC is much better musically.

Probably shouldn't have voted since I haven't heard any IQ.

However, ingoring IQ, Misplaced Childhood is miles above anything else. One of my favorite prog albums.

i don't see BRAVE as neo-prog at all – quite an insult, really

in fact, none of these really class as neo-prog cornerstones, all of them
have been released much later than the so-called “neo-prog“ heyday in
the early 80s and some of these in turn just copy the neo-prog style.
SLYVAN (local lads to me who i often spot in the audience at concerts)
for instance are one of those bands who never got over listening to
misplaced childhood for starters neo-neo-prog anyone?

IQ – tales from the lush attic / the wake
TWELFTH NIGHT – fact & fiction
MARILLION – script/fugazi (not misplaced, that's a step up)

should be on that list. my vote goes to them.

hence: OTHER.

ah... i misunderstood – forgive me, this is apparently about concept albums.

in that case I am with you, BRAVE would be it for me, SUBTA as a close
runner up, MISPLACED third.

but they're still not neo prog to me!!!!!

IQ's 'The Seventh House' and Pendragon's 'Not Of This World' aren't concept albums as far as I'm aware.

I'm really enjoying Arena's 'The Visitor' at the moment so that gets my vote.

I believe The Seventh House is about two friends during WWI. Not Of This World is also a concept album.

Apologies, I stand corrected on 'Not Of This World'.

I don't know that Not of this World is actually a concept album, I don't know how you define a concept album really. NOTW is more a collection of songs telling the story of Ncik Barrett's divorce and his feelings of that time towards his (ex) wife, his friends and importantly his son. Maybe that does make it a concept. For me I find this a very emotional album, and one of my fav's.

I won't vote since I've only heard IQ's The Seventh House from this list, which I enjoy.  I also plan to get their album Subterranea at some point.

You know, I've just picked up a few IQ albums, & I wonder why Marillion didn't catch my interest when I got them in the 80s ?
P.S. This was before I got into Genesis / wink wink nudge nudge ....
