A brief list of some bands that I consider "prog dinosaurs"... maybe is not the right definition but they are bands with lots of albums, history, loved and hated by millions -or at least thousands- (just go to the reviews of some of their albums)...  and with totally different styles when the made their debut albums... Maybe "prog legends" is the appropiate definiton but... who cares!

So, which is your favourite?

Best regards...

Good poll, and difficult to choose once again.

For me:
1. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
2. Yes - Yes
3. King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson king

Three of the most amazing debut albums ever made.

Gee, wouldn't you know it, ITCOTCK is leading. But I think I'll go with ELP's debut - so much energy. Wonderful stuff, methinks.

BTW, never heard of Le Orme. Is it Italian Prog?

Of those, I'd go with a tie between Storia and ITCHYCOCK.  I voted for Storia though, since it has less votes.  Soft Machine, Caravan and Amon Duul II have some of my other favorite '60s/early '70s debut albums.

Unfortunately, Rush is at a disadvantage in a poll like this because their first album was one of your classic "rocker" LPs. As such, I would have been surprised to see it come out on top in a 'prog poll".Tongue
I.e. that's the only reason  why they're losing ....Big%20smile

I voted for Yes (always loved that debut), but it's close between that one and Floyd's effort, and Rush's effort too. All three are fine debuts. Smile

My favourite is ITCOTKC.

The debuts by for instance Yes, Genesis, Camel, Pink Floyd, Rush give me the idea that those bands still had to find out what they were best at musically.

KC's debut was "a hole in one"!

Zappa, Jethro Tull, Camel, ELP, King Crimson & Gentle Giant's debut albums are all good.

But i voted Jethro Tull, since i just love "Serenade for a Cuckoo", "My Sunday Feeling" & "A Song for Jeffrey".
