I'm trying to buy some Popol Vuh. What is the best album to start with (Except the herzog soundtracks, I have nothing against Herzog, he is an amazing filmmaker with Aguirre and Fitzcarallado) Which is the best album to get the machine rolling for Popol Vuh?

I'd recommend Letzte Tage Letzte Nachte.  I love that album...

So much good albums...

You can start with the mid-period albums:

-Hosianna Mantra
-Einseger
-Das hohelied salomon

Letzte Tage is excellent as well, indeed.

Sound advice from Olivier,Clap

Unless you like early Tangerine Dream, then you could try Affenstunde and Garten der Pharaohs.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I agree with Sean and Oliver's recommendations.
I would also add Tantric Songs

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Try "Hosianna Mantra", their most ethereal, mesmeric and otherworldly album.
