I can't wait. If it's half as good as any previous VDGG album,it will be better than anything else released in 2005.

Sounds premium.  I wonder what they'll sound like, ie. what period of the band it'll bear most resemblence to, or if it'll be entirely different.  Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

I love VdGG but I have my reservations for celebration. Can these old geezers still release anything as intense as Pawn Hearts and Godbluff?

I hope the music they make doesn't cause a pock mark to appear on an otherwise good catalogue of music. Please maintain the integrity guys!!

This is their first since 1978, right?

I listened it till abandon ship, but, sorry, I can't continue anymore... I don't get it!

you can hear the samples here: click on 2:

they are pretty generous regarding the total duration of the sound clips.

good to see there are many members here who like it! you are all my heroes!

I am terribly terribly excited about this. Alas, I can't make it to any of the concerts but if this reunion lasts as much as it promises to then I have very high hopes of being able to in the future...

Fingers crossed, eh?

Guys , I got this album last friday.

It is awesome!!!!! I got goosebumps all over when I heard Hammill's voice starting behind Jackson's sax.

Both CDs are short (less than 40 min each) but I paid 14.00 Euros ($18.00).

The first album is of real songs , the second is more improvisations. The Electric guitar is fairly present but not overshadowing the rest.

I also had Magma album K. A. . Also super worthy of their legend.

Those two albums made me forget my disillusions on the old dog threads.

JUMP for those two.

I will maybe sound Brutish towards the British , but this Britsih charts and the weekly tabloid press is a real pain. I hate NME!!!!

I also hated Melody Maker and had a better feeling for Sounds but sometimes they were off the bat, too! Too bad out of those 3 , only the trashiest survived!

BTW, it is the first time I bought a CD with the anti-copy thing and IT SUCKS!!!!!!

That's what you get for dealing with filthy internet retailers.  HA HA!

To be fair, I have no money, so it'll be a while before I get my copy, but I have every intention of doing so.

Just been plugging VDGG in an article for my student newspaper.  Oh yeah!

Heh!  well Amazon have depatched mine . I had to use an internet site anyway because none of the cd stores in my town would get VDGG unless they ordered it for me off the internet..so defeats the object really...oh and  it saves me some money too

Hey guys !

I bought it last saturday. Man erg is absolutely right, the old power is still there. if you like the second period (still life, godbluff), you'll probably like this one. They still sound the way they used to and that's fantastic. one cd is full of improvisations, the other contents real songs, they're both awesome !

I'm finishing the very first spin of CD one and... it seems GREAT!!! I don't know about CD2 yet.

The copy control technology is giving me some pain (a lot of funny noises when I tried to play it in my portable CD). It's "funny" to read on the rear part of the CD that "on some equipment, for example car CD players playback problems can be encountered". So they are selling a defective product? But the protection is nothing that a boy can't break: I mean, I'm not a computer expert, and both CDs are already ripped in high quality mp3 into my computer, and I also ripped them as WAV to get a copy for my car... am I a criminal for this?

Get Pawn Hearts, or Godbluff. Get both actually. Also H to He. The supreme album is Pawn Hearts though. You should also look into Hammill solo stuff.

One of those impro is sounding a little Techno , but I think that was the goal: make techno with real instyments.

Maybe.
I keep on thinking that on the first track (Every Bloody Emporor)Hammill's going to start singing A Windmill in Old Amsterdam by Ronnie Hilton.Yikes!
The only weak point that I can find is that the last(live-in-the-studio) track(On the Beach)seems to go nowhere.
Hammill's choir-boy style of vocals are not much in evidence either.
I sound like an ungrateful s*d
Only small gripes.Fantastic to have them back.

Ive been really enjoying this album all week, my favourites are Every Bloody Emperor and Nutter Alert, its great to see that Hammill hasnt lost his sneering tone. Jaxons sax is just brilliant throughout.

The second Cd is tad hard to stomach though, a couple of tracks sound like all the musicians are all playing a different tune but i guess i still have a long way to go, to appreciate that kind of chaotic jazz-fusion.
