Subject: Dream Theater/ Symphony X: Autumn UK Dates

I'd imagine that the below dates are fairly common knowledge by now, but after PMing someone who didn't know about them, I thought I'd post them for your delectation:

Dream Theater are headling a short UK tour this autumn, with Symphony X in support, at some slightly larger venues:

11th Oct: Carling Academy, Glasgow
12th Oct: Apollo, Manchester
13th Oct: Arena, Wembley

9th Nov: The Newport Centre, Newport
10th Nov: Civic Hall, Wolverhampton
11th Nov: King Georges Hall, Blackburn

Tickets at all venues £24, except Wembley Arena, £25.

Will anyone be going?  I'm hoping to go to both Newport & Wolverhampton, and make a 'weekend' of it...Big%20smile

I'm going away from the 10th - 23rd of October and I saw there was a huge gap between 5th and 25th of October so I was like, please don't play the U.K. til I get back...even though they added 3 dates in that time, they added 3 more afterwards which I thought was extremely lucky.

Yeah, hopefully going to see them at Wolverhampton where I saw them last time, or Blackburn...just waiting on a friend to see if he wants to go.

DT will definitely be playing a mix, but with a lot of SC in thier, I think it will be the same with SX, but I'm not sure.

I went last Thursday to see both of them in Antwerp. I had big expectation in terms of Symp X but was totally disappointed. They were hardly bearable. All their prog elements were left outside the concert hall. Truely awful. Setlist for them (they seem to play the same tracklist all over the tour) : "Oculus Ex Inferni", "Set The World On Fire The Lie Of Lies", "Domination", "The Serpents Kiss", "Paradise Lost", "Sea Of Lies",  "Inferno (Unleash The Fire)", "Of Sins And Shadows".

In terms of "DT" they didn't play that many "Systematic Chaos" songs. No "The Ministry Of Lost Souls" for instance. Unfortunately both "Constant Motion", and "The Dark Eternal Night" were featured (but I'm more on their true progressive side, so...). Last song of the show was "In The Presence Of Enemies".

Concert was rather short (two hours including one encore). Portnoy was just magical and by far the most communicative. LaBrie seemed to be bored to death. Just doing his parts and then immediately disappring to the cloackroom. Not an inch aof charisma that night.

But their set is also changing (as usual). The week before they did include "Ministry" which is one of my fave from their latest effort. But usually "Presence" should be featured in each of their European concerts.  We got "Home" as well.

You can get more info about the tour onhttp://www.jordanrudess.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9468

Hope it helps...

Cheers.

Since I missed the Wimbley show, I'll be in attendance at Wolverhampton. I did a bit of reconnaissance when I was in the area for the Summers End Festival.

As a result, I've decided not to stay overnight in Wolverhampton. :) Its been a while since I've seen so many drunks wandering the streets.

There is an extensive list of setlists from the current tour on the Voices (DT UK fanclub) forum

http://www.voicesuk.net/forum/index.php?topic=7828.0 - http://www.voicesuk.net/forum/index.php?topic=7828.0

its mainly the newer (Post SFAM) stuff - only a couple of decent old tunes. 'Having seen DT about 20 times since 1995, I would not have bothered to see them on this tour if SX hadn't also been playing.
