I remember few months ago when i listen to Nostradamus Book of Prophecies (i have heard Martian Chronicles and i also loved it), tears came to my eyes.. It was just something unbelievable.. I've never shocked so much from a record. I couldn't believe what i was hearing. A perfect blend of different sounds. I had this need to open this thread about Solaris, because i think is painfully overlooked even by hardcore progheads. Sounds out of this world. I would be so proud if i was Hungarian..
Are there other solaris fans out here? -------------

Count me in. I only got to listen to Nostradamus, but it's superb. A great thumbs-up to Solaris and the Hungarian scene!

| I´ve heard both albums and they are amazing, but maybe Nostradamus is a bit better and more mystic while Chronicles is more electronic with a Camelish flavor. I haven´t heard many Hungarian bands but im sure this is one of the best. |

I've heard Nostradamus, and it is truly amazing. If I were to rate it, It would get a 5 from me with no questions asked. I haven't listened much lately, but this might just give me the itch to put it on today

| Solaris is indeed a source of great pride (I am a Hungarian-born Canadian) and their albums are all primo stuff. Check out Solaris' leader Attila Kollar 's solo project called Musical Witchcraft , whose first 2 releases are spell binding, with a third to be released imminently (I reviewed the first album a while ago) . The Hungarian scene has always been "progressive " with Omega, East, After Crying, Korai Orom, Color, Colorstar, Janos Varga Project, Rumblin'Orchestra , Inkabb Holnap, D Sound, to name just a few . I have the two Musical Witchcraft...Tha man is a genis. Definitely my favorite flutist :-) I have a lot of Hungarian progressive records and i love all of them. I'm planing to visit Hungary in near future to buy some stuff :-) -------------

| Excellent band but not really active anymore. Anyway, wecan have projects of Attila Kollár, and if Sollaris Fusion(with some Solaris Members) releases some new stuff, that willbe probably interesting. |

I think Solaris fans will also like solo album of band's late guitarist István Cziglán "Seven Gates of Alhambra" made with the help of his bandmates:
 By the way, the album deserves inclusion in PA.
I can add Korál to the list. Rather classic rock with prog touches than pure prog. But very good memorable songs, great vocals and powerful sound. One of the most impressive Hungarian bands for me. ------------- Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour) |
