I'm a fan of his solo work, and a fan of The Mars Volta too.
So I'm on wikipedia and just looking around, I stumble upon the Omar Rodriguez and Lydia Lunch album. Lydia Lunch is a spoken word poet. I think it will sound really cool.

Seems to be about the "sacred feminine" (like in The DaVinci Code). I'm sure it'll be interesting, just because it's Omar.

Not reaaally similar, but it has some similarities here and there. His first and lass albums are closer to TMV's sound while the second one is jazzier. Good stuff. Thanks for the news! I'm looking forward to the release. -------------

don't listen to much of it. It's not really similar. Just a look at

i wouldn't compare omar's solo work to mars volta much. while volta tends to be quite edgy and aggressive, omar's solo work (such as manual dexterity, please heat this eventually w/damo suzuki) is much more ambient and repetitious. i'd call what he does solo more avant than progressive rock. |
