The new album is now complete, but will not be released until January.
Here's the press release:
"As a result of the purchase of Sanctuary Records by Universal Records, we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the September release of the forthcoming Uriah Heep album 'WAKE THE SLEEPER'. The album is now most likely to be released in late January of next year and we are currently discussing release options with Sanctuary / Universal. We know that fans will be bitterly disappointed as indeed the band are by this news, but it would be commercial suicide to release such an important album for the band during a transitional takeover period between record labels. Quite simply, it would be a case of the album being released just for the sake of it without any cohesive promotion or marketing campaign in order to give the album the best shot that it richly deserves. Releasing later in the year would additionally mean that we would be fighting for racking space on the shelves with all the major Christmas releases.
Quite apart from being the first new Heep studio album in a decade (as it will be in 2008) we truly believe that 'Wake The Sleeper' is one of the band's Top Three albums ever and hope that fans understand this decision. Believe me, it will ultimately be worth the wait! The song names are surely interesting. After seeing the band live last month, I'm actually looking forward to this. Hopefully, the last decade of just touring has resulted in some great material. -------------

Origami is an excellent album ! Was lucky enough to see them twice ,in 1986 w/Pete Goalby & John Sinclair in Toronto & in 1989 in Halifax ,w/current lineup ,I went 2 out of 3 nights - pure magic ! ------------- Jazz isn't dead.......it just smells funny. Frank Zappa / Live in New York |

Had it a few weeks and it seems to be an excellent album; far tighter than the previous Bernie Shaw-led albums IMHO. It doesn't have any significant deviations from their trademark sound but it's not a rehash of past glories and it somehow manages to sound very fresh- the ten year gap has done them good as I think some of 'Sonic Origami' was quite flaccid to be honest.
Almost every song is top notch- I say almost, because to me 'Heaven's Rain' falls flat and is below the quality of the other songs IMHO. But I would have said every other track can stand proud with their earliest (and best) work.
I didn't think the modern-day Heep would have been able to top 'Sea Of Light' but it seems as though they have- time will tell how it stacks up against the earlier albums.
There was a great 2-page review of this one in Classic Rock recently.
