Has anyone already posted on this? Seems they're up for it (again), with help from Bonham junior. I'd love to go, but to what degree will it be a sad parody of the band's legendary, near mythical former glory?
If it's to be anything like the Plant/Page collaboration more than a decade ago, then I'm all for it. That was truly an inspired and creative reworking of the classics. If, on the other hand, they do a quick "greatest hits" set, a la Metallica at Live Earth, then I think they should still do it (hey, it's a chance to see 3/4 of the greatest classic rock band ever, after all!) but I'll watch it with a tear of nostalgia, rather than the thrill I got when listening to them doing Kashmir with a Moroccan string section.

Emdiar, in 1979 I witnessed the In Through The Outdoor tour in Ahoy in Rotterdam, I was deaf for two days but a dream had come true Approve I have always had the idea that Led Zep would reform with John Bonham junior but I hope Jimmy Page will more do his best to practise the Led Zep tracklist than in the past when he made a mess out of Stairway To Heaven Dead ...

Hey guys.....John's son is named Jason Bonham, not John or "junior".

I've heard about this many times...
I would only take it seriously if Page or Plant made the statment on national television.

This hasn't been confirmed afaik. I've seen warnings from their management not to buy tickets that are apparently on sale.

I assume you either haven't heard The Mighty ReArranger or just don't like it, it's one of his finest vocal performances IMHO.

Uggghhh, after houses Led zeppelin died (though they crutched along from the beginining). I personally like Plants blues vox on the first album more than anything else, too bad for them...

if by "died" you mean continued to progress past their metallic blues and fairy tale folk, then yes, they did

I would go up to the end of the world to see this (I would need a big bank loan for that, but anyway) if it were to happen (I think I just made a mess out of the If Clause).

However, I would rather prefer some new material (aside the usual self-tributes), as there is no more Led Zeppelin. Mr. Page and Mr. Jones have been creatively silent for quite some time now, and I'm really curious what musical ideas they've been sleeping on in the last years.

I'd have loved to see them with Phil Collins in 85. I mean come on, 4 superstars on one stage!

I really hope they make this more than just a one-off gig and do a tour. I'd travel to Europe for that, probably Italy where my family comes from, I have my house there so there'd be no need to get a hotel.

Blabbermouth...like the name implies is a very unreliable source.

I already knew about that possible reunion, and there are all sorts of rumors, some say they may reunite, some say they will reunite and some say they won't reunite.
I'd give everything to see Zep live actually, as I never had the chance and the Gods are possibly my favorite band, but I know without Bonzo it wouldn't be the same...

There were two major problems then - the instruments were not tuned when they were supposed to start playing, and there were two drummers on stage. If there was only Phil Collins it could have been a good performance, but it seems that the other guy was totally out of place there, spoiling everything for the others.
BTW, Phil Collins did a great job on Plant's first solo albums.

you mean the LiveAid show?  It blew big chunks mostly, and they sound much better in later years when they weren't rushed... and having to follow Queen

They're due to confirm a one-off concert at the O2 Arena sometime today.

So what are the chances of getting a ticket for that?

Posted By: emdiar
Date Posted: September 12 2007 at 12:16
It is generally accepted that the Collins live aid collab was horrible, but the "Plant & Page UnLedded."gig in 1994, with those Moroccan musicians on MTV, was a bloody master class in brilliance. For such a gig I would crawl across burning coals.

Can't find the link as I read it via a forum post that had apparently come from an e-mail about the gig, but this 02 gig is meant to be a one-off and tickets cost Ģ125. You apparently have to put your name down on some list before you even stand a chance of getting a ticket, anyway.

I've seen the Live Aid performance; it's not at all good, in fact, IMHO, it's very poor. Phil Collins cannot be blamed for it. Jimmy Page has blamed him in at least one interview I've seen but Page and Plant were all over the shop too.

The 'Unledded' material was superb, yeah. What Page and Plant did there was very brave; rather than being content to rest on their laurels (which, in fairness, Plant has never done, and has continued to make fine solo work over the years), they rearranged the old warhorses. I remember seeing them play on 'Later With Jools Holland' around the time of the album and they almost raised the roof when they did songs like (from memory; haven't seen it for about 12 or 13 years) 'Gallow's Pole' and 'Four Sticks' .

The BBC confirm it too on their BBCi service.

BBC says it is a one off concert to pay tribute to the late founder of Atlantic Records or something like that.

I've managed that twice so far. I'm assuming they'd send a confirmation email since you have to type in your email address but I've not had one so I'm going to keep trying.

I'm having no luck registering for the chance of a ticket. Even if you register successfully, I've just read that so far there's 1000 applicants for every ticket available, and the site's only been on line for a day. Even if no one else applies, the odds of 1000 to 1 against being one of the lucky 18000 are hardly instilling a sense of optimism. Still, you gotta be in it to win it, eh?

Keep plugging away at that website. I was getting nowhere all day then suddenly I got in quite quickly. It doesn't say how long you have to apply so you can keep trying over the next few days.
1000 to 1 eh? Well that's a lot better than the lottery anyway.

I think the lottery starts just getting on the site in the first place.
Of course I'm going to keep trying but boy it's taking ages...

Hey, the whole concert's a tribute to the late boss of Atlantic Records, Ahmed Ertegun, isn't it? I've heard that Pete Townshend and Paolo Nutini (?) will also be appearing, but since we're talking about Atlantic: why didn't anyone ask Yes?
