Estradasphere will release Palace of Mirrors Live DVD

The following is taken from the band's Myspace:
"The culmination of the Palace of Mirrors live performances of the past year,
has been set for release on October 2nd 2007 by The End Records.

This DVD is... well... AWESOME!

With multi-tracked live audio, the music actually sounds better than the Palace CD,
but it is PLAYED LIVE.

The visuals will melt your brain, or remelt your brain (depends on your brain's current state),

There's a whole hour of second set performances including interpretations of Saint-Saens, Chopin, Raymond Scott, Bernard Hermann, and more,

And a short production documentary that covers the three years from conception to performance of the expansive Palace of Mirrors project. Plus, for those who are curious about the story behind the music, the short story that it is all based upon is in print in the DVD booklet.

Keep a look out for excerpts and reviews as the date approaches!

And check The End Records website for more about the DVD:

"DVD Press Release
Estradasphere's "Palace of Mirrors Live" (2007 DVD), marks their second release since signing with The End Records in 2006. The Palace DVD's cinematic music and imagery connote a narrative that cuts across time, space, and genre. The line between cinema and album have been freshly blurred as we hereafter refer to the DVD as "the movie."

"Palace of Mirrors Live" is a psychedelic-sci-fi-gypsy-metal-jazz epic performed by the six musicians of Estradasphere, a live-cinema projectionist, and an innovative visual team. As the themes of the music associate with the enigmatic video projections, a dynamic film is created in which the members of Estradasphere are both the characters and the soundtrack orchestra. The mind melting Palace feature is counterbalanced by an entire opening set of 60's foreign/domestic film music, cartoon and bebop jazz, anachronistic Classical music interpretations, channeling of a non-existant American truck commercial, classic Estradasphere Gypsy Metal, and 50's Gospel favorites. Among the interpreted composers are Raymond Scott, Nino Rota, Frederic Chopin, Camille Saint-Saëns, Bud Powell, Sam Cooke, and Bernard Herrmann.

Estradasphere's diverse instrumental and stylistic palette enables them to execute a vast array of orchestrations and even forge entirely new genres such as "Bulgarian Surf," "Romanian Gypsy-Metal," and "Spaghetti Eastern." After forming in Santa Cruz, California in 1999, Estradasphere's first three studio albums were released on Trey Spruance's (Mr. Bungle) Mimicry Records. Members of Estradasphere have also recorded and performed with Spruance's current project, Secret Chiefs 3. Estradasphere's four studio albums, three live concert DVD's, six international tours, and ongoing "psychedelic-cinema-thon" concerts have earned them a loyal and growing following worldwide.

Tim Smolens and filmmaker Chip Yamada say about DVD and future ...
"Making the Palace DVD has been Estradasphere's most fulfilling artistic collaboration thus far. We all felt collectively energized to challenge peoples definition of "band," live show, album, and movie. In our view these are all unnecessary distinctions. Our response has been to constantly push for higher standards in musicianship, production, and storytelling.

The DVD is finally coming out OCt.2 and we just moved to Seattle to start a new multimedia recording studio/performance space. We're looking forward to meeting lots of classical, jazz, and folk musicians for use in future large ensemble recordings from Estradasphere and side projects. We are sitting on a lot of great recordings for future release and are planning a new show and hitting the road later this year opening for Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls. "
