A talented musician. I think she has a place here.

Do you think jazz-rock would fit her or somewhere else?

I'm listening to her too, with a view of submitting her to Rico for the Eclectic team. So far, she sounds more on the Jazz-Rock side of things, but I can't judge from a single track.

Well, she is a known musician in the jazz circles, so my tendency would be that.

Jazz-rock/Fusion fits the best for sure, as she is a jazz artist in essence rather than a rock artist.

I've seen a couple of her performances on YouTube, and she strikes me as somewhat of a genious musically.

Whether or not she's prog, I don't know, but I wouldn't object to her inclusion on PA.

I listened to 'Hiromi Uehara' , tracks from the 'Brain' (2004) CD... quite different tracks, the title track 'Brain' and 'Desert Moon ' are pure post-bop, the third one 'Kung Fu World... is nearly Prog, the description of the record points still to a majority of classic post-bop trio tracks, as apprently alos for her third record 'Spiral' ....I try to find some more material which seems to be more JR/F...

PS I found a nice citation on her website:

"I don't want to put a name on my music," she says. "Other people can put a name on what I do. It's just the union of what I've been listening to and what I've been learning. It has some elements of classical music, it has some rock, it has some jazz, but I don't want to give it a name."

Alucard: I think her newest album with Sonicbloom "Time Control", in which her band is expanded by a guitarist, is her most fusiony one. Have you heard it?

i think she definitely belongs here, probably in the jazz fusion section. there is plenty of progressivess in her music in my opinion, enough to justify her presence on the site.
although, even if she is not included, i think she is a brilliant pianist.
