I decided to take out Anesthetize, it'd get far too many votes. Besides, I think without it, the question becomes a little harder.
My vote goes to "Normal." That songs beautifully written!

Toss up between the title track, normal and cheating the polygraph...where it just goes to whatever I'm in the mood to consider the best (this includes Anethesize). Cheating the Polygraph really turned into an emotional one for me.

Besides Anesthetize, What Happens Now is probably my favorite. The FoaBP title track is sweet as well.

Definitely Normal.
Nil Recurring is much much better than FoaBP all around.

Now that I think about it, Cheating the Polygraph has two awesome solos in it!

'Sleep Together' seems to be the least favourite track on FOABP but I find it absolutely compelling. It's essential to finish off the concept, it's powerful and with that 'Kashmir' ending it's on a higher level than anything else on the album or the EP, including Anesthetize.
I bet I'm the only one who thinks so.

I know I'm in a huge minority on this one Sentimental.

Well, there are two votes, so at least you aint alone! Plus, that is a good track! Very well placed in the disc, as well.

But it seems everyone prefers the alternate version, or at least that's the feeling I've gotten since Nil came out.

Sentimental. Normal is pretty good too, but it feels a bit too pasted together in parts.

Don't have Nil Recurring either but Way Out of Here...g'dang that guitar solo is excellent. I nearly said Sentimental before remembering that.

I voted Normal...seems I'm not-so-exclusive; however, I think this track is one of the very best the band's done, and definitely the best of this "era" minus Anesthetize.
Runner up(s): Sentimental (I just really like that refrain) and Sleep Together.
------------- I'm a reasonable man, get off my case

Fear or Cheating. I voted for Fear. Only heard Nil Recuring twice so far. I bought the DVDA limited version. 5.1 mix of the whole album is awesome. The circular surround finish of What Happens Now is creepy.(good) Great videos as well.

My son (bassist for hardcore band Between the Buried and Me) pointed out to me recurring themes from "Anesthetize" in the song "What Happens Now" that I did not pick up on. So that one's got my vote as the "brother" to "Anesthetize".

tough one, could be (second to Anesthetize of course) Normal, the title track FoaBP, Sleep together, What Happens Now or Cheating the Polygraph... voting Sleep Together because it seems to be the underdog here

Way Out Of Here (closely followed by Sleep Together and What Happens Now). I love every detail about this track, the creepy soundscapes, the powerful vocals & killer guitar solo.

Way Out of Here, and it's even better live! They played it with so much emotion it was incredible!

Really? I'm guessing you're the one who got your son interested in King Crimson etc. I had not heard of Between the Buried and Me until one night I was talking to my husband's employee and somehow we got on the topic of King Crimson and he gave me BTBM's disc (I don't remember what it was called) that had the various cover songs of bands they liked and I thought they were great! Very Talented.
anyway, I didn't want to hijack this thread - I don't have Nil Recurring yet so I voted for Way out of Here. At first I thought Way out of Here sounded a bit cut and paste on the album, but I quickly changed my mind when I heard it live. It gets my vote!
