I found a Japanese import of this today and picked it up.
It has the original (creepy) cover.
Does anyone know when the artwork was changed?
Most versions do not have the dead body in the water.
(See signature below) ------------- The original (and very creepy) cover of THE STEVE HOWE ALBUM...hint...look in the water...

| All I know is that the original LP had the body and my remaster version (US release) doesn't. I don't know if that was a label decision or Steve's decision. I think they should have left it the same, although it IS creepy! |

Ahh.. I can see it now.. Must have been my PC.
Right, I have the Atlantic Remaster.. It has the floating body in the water.

Mine has the body too... I never really thought of it as dead though. That isn't really in keeping with the album's sound. Maybe it's a live body. Front crawl. And All's A Chord is fantastic. ------------- Stop me from dreaming? Okay :-( |

The interesting thing is the shape of the rocks and all resemble the cover of his first album (1975). But whereas that cover had a nice friendly and neighborhoodly kind of vibe to it, the 1979 album cover has all that machinery beneath it on the left. Given the behemoth Yes had become by 1979, maybe that's what Dean was trying to depict. But that's such a negative interpretation, it seems unlikely anyone would knowingly try to put a statement like that into their own album cover. Could the dead man be Jon Anderson or Wakeman (had they left Yes when this was released?) or maybe just a representation of the mostly-discredited utopian hopes of the 1960's? ------------- www.emkog.com |

I'm pretty proud of having the ORIGINAL album, WITH CORPSE, released in 1979, still stashed in my cupboard... 
Good album, except for the songs where Howe attempts to 'sing'...

My dad has a book by Roger Dean where he talks about that cover and that weird body (I think it's a diver, and not a dead one). When I go to his house I'll reread that part...
