I wanted to get this poll out before Kayo Dots new album came out, and then see from you guys whether it even compares to any of this great stuff. Maudlin of The Well is my second favorite band of all time just barely behind Yes. Kayo Dot is catching up fast, and both albums are wonderful, Choirs a masterpiece. Tartar lamb is a little too classical/avant/minimal for me to handle, and I dont own Drivers solo album.

I'll vote bath.

Thus far, Choirs of the Eye; however, it is a close margin, as I truthfully like pretty much everything he's put his hands on thus far.

EDIT: Also, despite some of the negative reviews, if you like Kayo Dot, you need to get not only the Bloody Panda/Kayo Dot Split but also Toby Driver's solo album, as they are both very good.

I probably should, but I'm afraid they may be too extremely avant garde for my tastes, Kayo Dot is generally where I draw the line for avant garde music. But who knows, I might just find the genre growing on me eventually.

Dowsing Anemone, although his MOTW material is astounding. To my ears Kayo Dot is the evolution of Maudlin, and therefore I rank their material higher.

Choirs of the Eye is incredible as well, tough choice.

so far... choirs. MotW is pretty incredible and Bath and LYBM are pretty amazing but choirs is one of my desert island-ers. not much of a chance there. a while back i owned, for 6 hours, every single album toby driver touched (thank you Bit Torrent Embarrassed ). however, my sister deleted it off my computer before i could listen to any of it or burn a disc. took me a month to download and now the torrent isnt seeded and the link is broken. i almost cried. but theres hope! new album Hug!!!!!

I've heard a bit of the solo album, and it was better than anything else on the list. I won't vote because I haven't heard the rest of it yet. But I like Tartar Lamb and the Dot albums next, and the motW is in last place for me.

I didn't vote, but of the two I have I prefer "...Library Loft" over "Leaving Your Body Map".

i voted for sixty metonymies, its the most solid as an entire album, i think... but 'Choirs' is a close second... all his other releases tend to be touch and go, they just simply happen to be genius when they are actually there...
sixty metonymies is just absolutely great ...the only flaw is the processed vocals at the spoken word section at the very end of the album (i cringe every time... i wish it was more like the spoken word in the manifold curiosity)

Choirs of the Eye, absolutely stunning album, closely followed by Leaving your Body Map, which I'm shocked to see hasnt got any votes yet.

Does anyone know the release date of the new Kayo Dot album?

It should be sometime this month, the band has been completely silent lately, therefore it must be soon.

Wow, no votes for LYBM? Weird.

It is odd that they're no votes for LYBM...it's a good album...

But as for the new Kayo album, there's a nasty rumor floating about speaking of a delay, because the album was originally due out this month. Methinks it best stay that way.

The new album, by the way, is supposedly less metallic than the others, and more jazz-influenced, which will be interesting, and most-likely awesome. Looking forward to it. Not looking forward to a delay if there is one.

Unlucky me. They are going on a short tour that starts in Richmond March 10th, and I was all set on going, but my ride dropped out...so now I'm very upset. Hah. I could've asked Toby himself when the album's due....I'm not giving up hope yet though...i'll find a way hopefully.

Gah. This sucks. Everyone who "was" going to see them, now cannot. I was thinking about taking a bus (it may even be worth it, as I like Ghastly City Sleep and Pygmy Lush as well...so it'd be a great show...) but the tool is outrageous. It's cost like $90 round trip...for a $6-ticket show.

Makes me very angry. I wish I could fly...
