HI PROG FRIENDS, THIS IS CÉSAR INCA.

Here’s QUAKER, yet another band from Latin America. They released their debut album a few years ago, titled “Autocrítica”. After a hiatus, QUAKER decided to return to gigs and even write new material for a forthcoming second album.

I have no sound samples but I have the album, a very good example of creative refurbishment of KC influences. They make a mixture of 80s Crimson, jazz-rock, heavy prog, psychedelic rock, plus some slight touches of post-rock.

As you can see (even if you can't hear), there's enough written evidence to compesate for the lack of audio samples. There was a time when the band's homepage used to work, but it's been outdated for too long (although apparently it's under construction). I thought the band had broken up, but the truth is that they had undergone a period of hibernation. Some e-mail friends told me that their new material puts more emphasis on the jazz-rock factor. Hopefully, one day these guys will have their own Myspace blog or something like it...
