Hi,

This band was one of the very first to merge rock, folk and pop with African beat. They were from Johannesburgh and released 3 albums during the early 70's.
Their first album contains a side-long suite complete with flutes, guitars, organ, percussions and drums.
They re-recorded this suite for their second album with new members,a team of percussionists and back-up singers.
The third album although titled as a live album is not a live album. They remind me a bit of Osibisa.
I would suggest them for prog-folk,or at least cross-over.

There are many good bands from S.A. that should be in PA.Here's a great link;

A great band. I've a copy of their 1973 Charisma label release (as Jo'burg Hawk)

Not sure about the Crossover connection, but I think Prog-Folk could be a consideration.

I remember having that album on vinyl, it was called "Africa, she too can cry"
I´m not sure what happened to it but I remember it being quite progressive in parts
Just clicked that link and listened to those tracks, really brought back memories

I'm sure those memories are warm as this music was so charming and seductive,so to speak.

That is a good link, I was listening to the music earlier and enjoying it.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Thanks Logan.

It is indeed a good link where we can learn about this underrated, yet fertile S.A. rock scene.

Hawk,Duncan Mackay,Abstract Truth,Canamii,Freedom's Children,ect...most should be on P.A.

Would you agree Prog-Folk alongside Osibisa?

From the album I have, thereare influences of African music, but I would call this porog folk.

Most likely eclectic or crossover.

No nothing like OSIBISA >> theseguys were white and recorded in London to avoid apartheid.

DEMON FUZZ is also african and ASSAGAI shouldbe in as well. (thelatterin prog folk)
