Facing New York is experimental post punk/post rock with progressive leanings. They
deserve to be listed in the archives for their instrumental breaks, extensive use of
flavorful keyboards, complex drum rhythms, non-standard (tangential) song structure and
common use of odd time signatures. Their self-titled album released in 2005 is their most progressive work to date.

BAND INFO:

Facing new York is native to San Francisco, California, USA. They formed in 2004 and
released an EP, an album and 2 splits with other bands from 2004-2006.

On their myspace page they site their influences as:

Do Make Say Think, The Dismemberment Plan, Yes, Fela Kuti, The Police, Led Zeppelin,
Steely Dan, The Beatles, Can, Gentle Giant, Sly and the Family Stone,
Parliament/Funkadelic, anticon., The Neptunes and My Morning Jacket.

Current band members:

Eric Frederic - Vocals/Guitar/Keyboard (2004 - Present)
Matthew Fazzi - Guitar/Vocals/Keyboard/Drums (2004 - Present)
Brandon Canchola - Bass/Vocals (2004 - Present)
Omar Cuellar - Drums (2004 - Present)

Past band members (on all releases up to 2006):

Rene Carranza - Keyboard - (2004 - 2006)

Their music is hard to classify, and I don't think it fits with any of the sub genres of
prog already listed on progarchives, but I would call it "experimental/progressive post
rock/indie/punk"

FACING NEW YORK were rejected by two teams some weeks ago ...
They sound really good as for my impression but the teams are missing the significant prog character Cry

My team was one of them and if I'm not mistaken "by the whole Art Rock team itself."
