I picked this up from another forum: largest web database? I have been searching for the largest web database on bands and recordings and have found the following the largest: www.gemm.com www.gnosis2000.net www.gepr.net www.docrock.de www.musicstack.com www.popsike.com www.allmusic.com www.cddb.com www.ubl.com www.rockdetector.com www.proggnosis.com www.lasercd.com Are there any others that are larger or more complete ? There are always cases where a group or recording is in one database but not in any other. One of the hardest to find is "Luna Cinese" on Cramps record label "costin mireanu" . There is some really good stuff amongst metal and punk rockers. granted most is crappy but you can find something good every now and then. I also discovered that there are loads of music "blogs" where indie bands post their mp3s and indie sites with their mp3s. And others can hear them all free. This means that you don't even need to burn a CD to have your piece heard anywhere in the world! Things are kind of all mixed up in these databases.... ---------------------------------------------------------- -------------- Foetus has done some electronic stuff over the years (are they even around anymore?), but nothing I can recommend and there's the rub. A lot of Internet sites are available but few offer *real* information. Really, the internet can be a resourse for junk and misinformation beyond what has been seen before. With this in mind- I don't visit many prog or AOR sites and stopped subscribing to such magazines on the same subjects several years ago. (i think the last time I read Exposure or Progression was 3-4 years ago and I think these were promo copies?) But there are also alot of unknown bands and combinations. I didn't think PUNK and ELECTRONIC music would combine, but then I guess all kinds of combinations are out there. Also beware that many small unknown bands have some really great music. I was a subscriber to Sea of Tranquiltiy until they stoped printing.
