I love these two bands that were birthed out of the Boredoms camp, Yoshimi's OOIOO and Seiichi Yamamoto's psych/trance band Rovo,

OOIOO has gotten better it seems with every release, or at least she started out as more of a electronic/junk rock outfit sort like a feminine version of the Boredoms early sound, but each album she experimented more with krauty-psychedelia and deep rich textures of sound and rhythm, now OOIOO is just a powerhouse entity all of its own!

Rovo has always been a consistent
Trance/Rhythm machine ever since their first release "Pico!" conscious heightening stuff man, this music just  soars out of the stratosphere and doesn't come back!, (they also share a member with Bondage Fruit violinist Yuji Katsui) what sucks is the only thing I own from them is the Tonic 2001 2CD on Tzadik records, all the rest I have are just DLs, it would seem the only place to buy their CDs is out of Japan and the price is way to high from my blood in this current economy, if anyone knows a place stateside where I can buy these I'd definitely like to know! Wink

Rovo are kinda meh as I recall, but OOIOO is pretty cool.  I've heard Feather Float and Taiga, and both are good.

OH MAN SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT ROVO!!! WOOOO! My old roommate was from Japan so I was exposed to several great bands from there. Before he left I copied some of his Rovo cds so I would remember them.  Great stuff.  Kind of Mahavishnu Orchestra-ish sometimes at least on one album.

yeah, I always find it hard to sum up Rovo in a few words, I usually just call em trace/psych/polyrhythmic stuff

I don't know, I just couldn't get into them, don't know why, though.
