Don't believe the Label LP has been released on CD.

Just bumping this from several topic down page two, and it happens to be the only non-responded to topic on the first three pages (there are two that went without comment on page four -- both I checked out but didn't respond so will respond momentarily).  This is not important, or anything, but interested to get impressions.

Not bad.  I can hear the Hatfield and HC influences.

Darn, lost my post (service unavailable) -- it's been working so well that past hour that I forgot to copy.  No biggie; 'twasn't a long response.

Thanks for checking it out and pointing out the broken link.  I should remember to check those links (thought I'd been careful).  I accidentally copied and pasted in a space at the end of the address, and that's enough to break the link.  That often happens to me.

It's an interesting one, I think, because of the Canterbury and ska influence, and yeah, the Henry Cow and H&tN influence is quite evident.

I would think the style is sufficient that they should have a place in the archives, probably under Canterbury (obvious).

Yeah; I think so too.  Great picture of Wyatt with Henry Cow, by the way.

Hmm.  I'll bump this in the Canterbury team thread.

Thanks.  I mentioned it on page 41 of their thread, and am looking forward through the thread for developments.  EDIT: Whether it gets added or not, I think it's a neat-o one, and worth checking out and discussing.

Like, err - WOW! I cannot believe I missed this thread back in July - I must have been on holiday or asleep or something... Confused

The Reluctant Stereotypes. Gosh. I honestely never expected to see a thread about them here. "The Label" is the only ska album I ever liked - Canterbury wouldn't have been the first thing that sprang to mind when hearing it, however the three MySpace tracks do sound remarkably Canterbury-ish for a Coventry Two-Tone/Ska band (though none of them are on the album) - 'Reverend' is a early working of 'Reverend Green', which loses a lot of it excentricity by the time it's recorded for "The Label" - I don't recognise the other two tracks- pretty cool though.

Colin Heanes, drums
Steve Edgson, clarinet
Paul Sampson, guitar
Tony Wall, bass guitar
Paul King, vocals

After the break-up of the Reluctant Stereotypes, Paul King and Tom Wall went to form King (hit single Love & Pride) while Paul Samson went into production. Paul King later became a MTV presenter.

A cool and informative post, Dean. Thumbs Up I don't think it's so much Canterbury as Skanterbury.  Thought it would be a cool one to mention as we don't really have a lot of Ska/ Two-Tone bands in the archives. ;)  Based on those tracks, I'd love to see it in the archives somewhere; hope I can get the album.
