HI, PROG RELATED FRIENDS, THIS IS CÉSAR INCA.

I gather Atavachron has consulted some of you about Norwegian band AMPERA, but allow me to give my two cents about them.

AMPERA is a band with a female lead singer that makes a heavy progressive art rock influenced by post-“From Within” Anekdoten, post-“Sacrament” White Willow, Tool and Evanescence. Some flirtations with Goth-rock and stonere can also be heard, but these are pertinently comprised in an overall prog scheme. Here ( http://www.myspace.com/ampera - http://www.myspace.com/ampera ) you will find four tracks from their “A Vulcanized Mind” album.

This band does not give preference to complex rhythm shifts (although there are rhythm shifts) or pyrotechnics; it is more focused on mood developments and variations. I really believe AMPERA would make a hell of an entry in the heavy prog department of the Archives. I’ve recently purchased it and I’m ready to review it as soon as possible for the Archives.

I hope this band gets accepted into PA - they already are reviewed in some prog e-zines and retailers.

  Kind regards.

^^ Hi Cesar,

Yes, that's a really good description of the band's music you've given there...can't fault a word, and they certainly remind me most of Anekdoten and KC (who they list at the top of their 'influences' column).  I would agree that on balance, Heavy Prog is as good a place as any to put them, although an argument could be made out for Eclectic....Thumbs%20Up

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Thank you, Fandango. I'll also try the Prog Related thread in order to find which team will embrace this energetic band from Norway into the Archives. My firs tpersonal choices are for Heavy Prog or Eclectic, but at the end of the day, one has to be realistic about the criteria held by the Teams' specific specialists.

        Kind regards.

Not much shredding to be found - the guitarwork reminded me more of U2 and mid 80's Killing Joke.
