If there's any consolation, they split up to form another group, which I think is a good thing.

Terrible news...this band was great. I wasn't keen on the new album though, but this doesn't help.

If Arno and Markus are going off together, it will be tough to get another rhythm section half as strong.  The two brothers made the band.  Arno and Markus would have to branch out, add some keys and try something at least somewhat different to what they have been doing.  That is if they even want to stay in the prog realm of music.  Markus is very talented and I look forward to seeing what he comes up with but a sad day indeed. Too bad.... Sieges Even was one of the few prog metal bands that I regularly play.... It will take a while (if it ever happens at all) before bands like Sunpath build up a similar attraction.

They were arguably my favorite prog metal band and will be very missed. The last 2 albums were classics.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Update

Arno and Markus have confirmed that their new band line up is complete with the addition of Roel van Helden (Sun Caged)

Apparently material for the first album is already written so we can look forward to it being released in the near future. (hopefully)

Mmh, pity, they were real good.

It's a real shame. I was a fan from the start when they first released Lifecycle, and their releases seemed to get progressively better, although substantially different from album to album.

I can't say I was very impressed by their last two studio albums though, much too easy for my ears. The recent live album just highlighted this, when it enabled a direct comparrison between the new and older material.

Perhaps it's good if they take another lengthy break and then bring back Zenk and Keller, that would be great!

The worst part about all this: I missed to see them live with the last line-up Ouch
but there is always a chance for them to get together again ...

I loved "Art of Navigating by the Stars"

Paramount was disjointed. If you look at the writing credits it looked like the Holzwarth brothers were heading in a different direction than Steffen and Menses. No offense to the Holzwarth brothers but their songs on Paramount were not as good as what Steffan writes. I was shocked to hear they broke up though.  I thought things were going so well. I am sad to see them go and I hope they can put something out again that is as good as "The Art". Subsignal seem cool, but will they be as good?

I listened to The Art Of Navigating... this morning while on my walk and it's good; but, SE splitting up isn't going to upset me too much.
