file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CRichard%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml - Thanks to those folks who have written asking about the start of the new show. I can confirm the first official show will be Thursday 2nd October in the usual time slot 8 to 11pm, via www.LCR1350.co.uk (hopefully the problems downloading via Mozilla will have disappeared - but just in case use IE). In addition a pre-start of term 3hr show for this Thursday, 25th September, has been prepared (will confirm this). Already prepared next two shows as follows - dates are tentative:

Just checked and found the Summer sustain service is working, and I've downloaded it through Mozilla without any crashing.

Haven't gone far away. However, the radio programme fhas always followed the university's term time pattern. Therefore we're on the air 30 to 35 weeks of the year, with breaks at Christmas, Easter and  the long one over the Summer vac (mid June to late September). Trying hard to get our management to include in  their sustain service (typically midnight to 8am), specialist music slots, e.g. my case, 3 to 6 hours once or twice a week which features the eclectic mix with some emphasis on jazz. . So watch this space.

Just to confirm that my traditional pre-start of term, warm up show - where things may go wrong as these old hand refamilliarise themselves with the knobs - is on tonight from 8pm. As I've received the forthcoming (and indeed long awaited) Jimmy Herring Lifeboat album in the last 24 hours, there will be a bit of shuffling of the play list  to include a track - thanks to Abstract L. BTW the promo tell me far more about the PR office whilst there is nothing about which guest appear on which track doing what, either on the disc itself or the press release. Anybody help with such details?

6pm; just checked and the webstream is NOT operative - shouldn't I expected this? Checked with another part-timer (who like me has a full time job) working in the studio at the moment and discover we ain't going to get sustain/live broadcasts on the web until tomorrow evening. We are both pissed off and so NO SHOW TONIGHT. I'm sorrier than anybody else!!! So therefore we start the new series of shows next Thursday at 8pm - following the playlist for that date with some minor changes.....

Just an obsevation: I did like the last year's layout of songlist more than the current one.
I t would be nice and useful to include genre and duration as in the past....Big%20smile

I'm having problems with software compatibility uploading the whole playlist with those details (certainly there on the mastersheet) - working on it. I wonder Tony R will facilitate?

After our engineers failure to get the webcast going on time last week, some revamping.  10 albums received as promos (5 unexpectedly but most welcome from Unicorn in Canada), since compiling those lists, so there had to be a few changes , hence (scratched the original above to avoid confusion):

Anything to oblige - for some reasons of software incompatibility I can't upload a Word document cleanly here without errors occurring - why landscape documents get their ends chopped, why words have blocked letters and why two asterisks appeared in the word 'Night**ter', I can't say.

PS even above typing the word in direct for this message, NIGHt**tER ends up NIGHTW**ER????????????Confused

Can't imagine being anything local. Has the stream changed in any way that my applications meets trouble opening it (cause I'm getting applications error). Just like, previous months, I was opening the stream without problems, I do the same now, to no effect. The error makes the application crash in a flash.

Can't imagine being anything local. Has the stream changed in any way that my applications meets trouble opening it (cause I'm getting applications error). Just like, previous months, I was opening the stream without problems, I do the same now, to no effect. The error makes the application crash in a flash.

There have been upgradings, e.g band width doubled - but immediately I go out of my depth technically wrt webcasting

A couple of friends didn't really like the Battles I played them due to the Pinky and Perky vocal style.

But a few weeks later my mate was asking about them. LOL

Checking around those corresponding in to last night's show, and it appears onlyy your goodself had problems. However, there weren't that number talking via this thread so I'm wondering if they had the same problem early on and abandoned us at 8pm - hence no addional messages. Only other fault reported (from USA) was short drop out at about 8.30pm bst, but that sorted itself out, seemingly a local problem to them. I am concerned if one of regularly can't hear the show, especially now we are trying to improve the quality of output. As mentioned  I was told last night that plans to rebroadcast a recording of my show each week  for ~168hrs, I believe on "on demand" basis is not far off - also suggested I could have a podcast if all of what I played could get copyright clearance...... (a real tough one).

There is the possibility that my applications, perhaps upgraded to their latest, suddenly meet problems with the link - though it is rather strange for all of them to refuse to work. Back the previous sessions, it was only a problem of installing codecs and patching the right stream, the right way. It does occur sometimes for streams like this audio (radio) one or videos to crash my Firefox, but it's mostly my fault of putting too many plates in the processor's hands to spin - this case seems exceptional, as it always abruptly crashes or (in Windows Media Player's case) can't upload the stream properly.

Anyway, that's the sole thing I can explain right now.

Hopefully next Thursday there will be no rejections.

The station should be streaming 168 hours a week, so please check at any time beforehand and let me know. Hopefully if I can feed through details to our software expert I can get you good advice before next Thursday evening.

Coincidentally an update only just received from our software engineer:

An update dick... I listened to the cast today and it was awful kept dropping frames all over the shop. I did lots of playing this evening and it is now working better as it is using one software to send multiple streams not two different applications. (I won't bore you with the details), but it now no longer requires media player. Can use any player they (listeners) want, they just need to open the stream. http:\\ http://susvstream.lboro.ac.uk:8080/ - susvstream.lboro.ac.uk:8080

will get the website updated with a generic player as well that should work in all formats. whoop :)

i think this should be progress... :).

so please note the link change of address, to repeat:
