So, there are a lot of classic bands from Czechoslovakia that are still missing from this site, maybe due to lack of knowledge abroad. And having a sizable music from this collection I'll attempt to correct that. Here is a list of bands I'd like to see added:

Bacily (prog-related?)
Bohemia (jazz-rock/fusion)
C&K Vocal (eclectic)
Energit (jazz-rock/fusion)
Etc (folk, crossover)
Extempore (RIO/avant)
Framus 5 (eclectic)
Gattch (proto or eclectic)
Impuls (jazz-rock/fusion)
Jazz Cellula (jazz-rock/fusion)
Jazz Q (jazz-rock/fusion)
Mahagon (jazz-rock/fusion)
Petrina, Ota (symphonic/space?)
Prazsky Vyber (jazz-rock/fusion, new wave/eclectic)
Prudy (prog related/proto prog)
Synkopy (eclectic)

Any additions or comments? I'll start writing the biographies and gather some samples. But I have a question: where does one send prog-related and proto-prog bands? Is there a team that accepts/rejects them?

Congratulations, Magor! ClapThis is exactly what we need - a knowledgable people from a specific area!

I'll be more than happy to check C & K Vocal, Framus 5, Gattch, Prazsky Vyber and especially Synkopy (who seems to be highly valued by other prog sites) with my mates from Eclectic team! (Perhaps Ota Petrina too).

Could you provide any links (sound samples) for the aforementioned bands?

Ota Petrina checked out by symphonic team - not our brand, but clearly a band that should be here.

Suggestions for teams to evaluate - courtesy of Ivan:

  1. Folk Prog: The most relevant element IMO is the Russian Ethnic.
  2. Psyche/Space:  The sound is also clear
  3. Eclectic: Natural consrquence of this fusion.

Have to admit the only Czech band I have albums from is Olympic which is sort of the Omega of Czechoslovakia still going after 40 years. They've  played in other European countries as well and even played in the US if I'm correct. They also recorded in English as well .They're currently on tour again and will be playing in London, England later this month. Don't know if they would fit in here though.

Yeah, Ota Petrina is the only one I know from that list, and they should probably be here. Not sure about the Space-Rock label, despite their ocasional nods to Floyd - perhaps Heavy Prog could do the trick.

I'll send you samples through private message once they get uploaded. Then you can show them to the others on eclectic team somehow?

About Ota Petrina, it was I who sent him to symphonic prog but yes in hindsight would fit better in space rock.

@vibrationbaby - Olympic - known for their pop rock hits in 70s and 80s, but the first 2-3 albums maybe could be considered genuine psych - I'm not sure.

@Zafreth - there is not much info about these bands in English, but I am translating some stuff and writing biographies. For discographies and info in Czech you can find most of the above mentioned bands on this site: http://www.progboard.com/profily-recenze.php

I contacted Magor few weeks ago, we talked a bit and I want to cooperate with him, as our paths are taking similar course in this matter (adding Czech / Slovak bands, even my knowledge about Slovak ones isn't so great).

Great that I found this thread.

I know Moris, I've tried to edit the post 5 times to blue Synkopy too, but unfortunately, to no avail.

Now to the rest, my opinion (common knowledge, not deep listening and research):

Bacily (prog-related?)
- don't know much. Prog-Related or Proto Prog. But I don't know them at all.

Etc (folk, crossover)
- I suppose Crossover, their second album is the best. Then they got ban on making music and next albums are released many years later in 80s.

I have to note that in Czech R., he is rated as one of the Rock legends, among Radim Hladík (Blue Effect) and Michal Pavlíček (Pražský výběr).

Extempore (RIO/avant)
- I was listening them recently. Really great weird stuff

Jazz Cellula (jazz-rock/fusion)
- ? Never heard about them.

Prudy (prog related/proto prog)
-Collegium Musicum related
