What do you guitar players think of the Big Muff. I am thinking of ordering one because I have a strat already and I wanna do some hendrix stuff. Is is a pretty versatile stompbox? Could I apply it to other types of stuff?

I had a thingie made by Electro-harmonix called the "Muff
Fuzz" It was a small 2"x3" box (no foot pedal) with a
on- off switch and a knob labelled simply "fuzz".
If the Big Muff Pi is anywhere as rich a distortion as
this thing produced, it's worth the cash.

I had a Pi for a while...huge, metal box (possibly indestructible!), with a classic sound. Very harmonic fuzz with almost no mids so it bites right through the mix. As far as versatile, that depends...you can't really get decent overdrive or metal sounds from it, but you can get a lot of different fuzztones...from Fripp to Jeff Beck to Smashing Pumpkins and more.
