(Not sure if this should be in this section or not because Jarre is technically prog-related, but I'd say these two works alone are definitely both prog. If it needs to be moved though, then that works too.)

Both of these albums are amazing and pioneered a new more accessible sound in the progressive electronic scene, yet both are far from being "pop" albums. I think they're always really neat to hear in the winter time. Big smile

Which one would you pick if you had to and why? I love them both so much, but I'd go with Oxygene if I was forced.

I actually really prefer Equinoxe, as it has a different mood .

That's true. Equinoxe seems more polished and subtle than Oxygene, I think.

Wow.  Here's something that I didn't expect to see on here.  Jarre.

It's been a while since I've listened to either of them, but Equinoxe was one of my favorites of his.  Personally though, I thought Revolutions was his best work followed by Rendezvous.  Even Zoolook, despite the general bizarreness of it's sound, is more progressive in my mind.

Nonetheless, just about everything that he did up to Cousteau was great, after that, I bought Chronologique which was awful then Oxygene 2 didn't impress me either.

I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms.

^I'm with Roland - Zoolook and Rendezvous ahead of his earlier work. Of the two in the poll, I favour Equinoxe.

Well, a very refreshing change to see a Jarre poll here.

These are 2 brilliant albums which I honestly find very difficult to split.  I will have to think about this and return later.

I am with Roland and russellk, Zoolook is superb too.  Another one of Jarre's I really like is Waiting For Cousteau, perfect for a chill out album, very ambient and very beautiful.

Nice poll!

Roj,

Good point, I forgot about Cousteau, another great album.  We used Calypso I for the conga line at our wedding.

Voted for Equinoxe... fantastic album, don't care at all for Oxygene though.
