Some bad news from Kansas. Apparently, the various members just couldn't ever get together due to RL problems, so they decided to call it quits. The new album they were working on will eventually surface as Livgren solo album. I don't have an official link for this, but I was a subscriber to the Yahoo newsgroup and this popped up in my inbox a few hours ago. What a way to ruin my post-finals celebration! Angry

Oh Well.

Livgren can turn sh*t into gold.

Not really, since it's in an access controlled site, it wouldn't be too useful. I can post a quote.

"Proto-Kaw has disbanded. What a great and fun band to have played in.
We didn't "break up" as such, things just sort of lapsed for us.
No bookings, label troubles, and lots of other personal circumstances contributed.
Our unfinished album will eventually surface as a solo project by myself, featuring
members of Proto-Kaw and other guest musicians and vocalists.

Kerry Livgren"

Too bad.  Symphonic Prog bands from the USA are as rare as honest politicians.

Untrue. There actually are some Symphonic Prog bands from the USA.

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I think he meant "good" Symphonic bands. Not just Yes and Genesis and Kansas clones. MY first thought upon listening to Before Became After, "this is Livgren?" The only song on there that sounds like Kansas was Theophany.

Sad to hear that!  It seemed that Kansas was getting over the Hope's and Livgren's Bible Christian stances, but I guess it was just too much for the whole group (as it was when in 1982 when Steve left because of Livgren's Christian lyrics...)
