The avant-garde section is really missing a key musician of the genre without this guy. If you're interested in the further experimental side of the genre, I suggest a listen to some of his albums on cdbaby as over the past 10 years he's really become a powerhouse of the genre.

Born in Salinas, California, http://www.paxrecordings.com/ernesto/ - Ernesto Diaz-Infante is Chicano (of Mexican descent). He received his MFA in Music Composition from http://www.calarts.edu/ - California Institute of the Arts and has created musical compositions that span a broad perspective: transcendental piano, noise, avant-garde guitar, field recordings, lo-fi four-track manipulations, and experimental song. ED-I has performed throughout Europe and the United States, and his music has been broadcasted internationally. He has recorded more than 15 CDs of music and collaborated with numerous musicans.
