Just been listening to 3 albums by Aereogramme - Sleep and release;Seclusion; My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go
This group must be one of the most progressive post-rock/indie I have heard & I have listened to quite alot of this type of music resently.I was surprised that they were not included on the lists you have, although have been mentioned a few times.
Sleep and release - Prog death/extreme/post hardcore metal fans should listen to this - even a few growls on there, although there are alot of softer Sugar Ros/Indie rock type vocals as well.Alot of strings, symphonic parts as well acoustic guitar/violin & experimental electronics.
Seclusion - similar to above no growls this time
My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go - much more melodic but quite progressive. It sounds much closer to 70's Prog to me this album although still retaining the post rock/indie sound. They generally have expanded their overall soundscape on this album but less heavy than previous albms.

Riverside,Porcupine Tree, general Post-Rock & Indie Rock fans such as The Flaming Lips,Mercury Rev should like this group.Definately in the New Prog area - generally Indie Rock that has similar characterists to 70's Prog.

Definate one to check out.

Scratchy,

I am unfamiliar with this band.  Which team would you suggest that we have evaluate them first?  I am thinking the post-metal team based on what you have written.

Here is a link to their MySpace page  http://www.myspace.com/aereogrammeofficial - http://www.myspace.com/aereogrammeofficial
And a link to their official website http://www.aereogramme.co.uk/ - http://www.aereogramme.co.uk/

Thank you for your suggestion.

Scott

Hi Mike.  I see that on http://www.progfreak.com - www.progfreak.com you have them marked as Prog Related.  What genre here on PA do you think that they might fit in?

The post rock/math rock team possibly I would suggest as well.I have heard of them before but I don't believe I have listened to any of their music.A friend of mine asked me to listen to them.I like their sound & their vocalist is quite expressive which is unusual in a Indie rock type of group.Perhaps they have gone a bit Coldplay/Snow Patrol on their latest album but are definately more adventurious/progressive than those groups.

It's really been quite a while since I listened to them. I'd say that Post/Math and Eclectic would be possible, and I tend towards Eclectic because they're not really *that* Post/Math. A bit like a mix between Oceansize and 65daysofstatic.

I'll listen to them again tomorrow!
